Full job description

Description

We are looking for a Transportation Planner to support freight planning and shipment execution across multiple business areas in Shoreview, Minnesota. This Contract position focuses on coordinating inbound and outbound transportation, working closely with carriers and internal teams to keep deliveries on schedule and operations running smoothly. The role is well suited for someone who can stay organized in a fast-paced setting, communicate clearly with stakeholders, and respond effectively when transportation issues arise.

Responsibilities:

  • Coordinate day-to-day freight activity for assigned regions, ensuring shipments move efficiently across supported business lines.

  • Work with carriers, vendors, and internal supply chain partners to arrange transportation for a range of shipment types, including temperature-sensitive loads.

  • Maintain regular communication with customer service, warehousing, deployment, and operations teams to align shipment plans and delivery expectations.

  • Monitor loads from pickup through delivery, identify risks to service, and take timely action to reduce delays.

  • Resolve transportation-related issues professionally by investigating problems, escalating when needed, and following through to completion.

  • Support carrier performance and capacity planning efforts to improve on-time service and overall customer satisfaction.

  • Assist with freight payment questions, accounts payable coordination, and transportation claim entry or follow-up as needed.

  • Use transportation and reporting tools to track activity, support planning decisions, and maintain accurate shipment records.

Requirements • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Supply Chain, Logistics, or a related field.

  • At least 1 year of experience in logistics, transportation, or a comparable operational environment.

  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications, including Excel, Outlook, and Word.

  • Understanding of transportation coordination, shipment tracking, and general freight operations.

  • Ability to manage multiple priorities, organize daily workload, and adapt to changing business needs.

  • Strong problem-solving skills with the judgment to make sound decisions in time-sensitive situations.

  • Clear verbal and written communication skills with the ability to build productive relationships across teams and with external partners.

  • High level of attention to detail and ability to handle conflict effectively while maintaining service standards.
