Summary

This is a Direct Hire Authority (DHA) solicitation utilizing the DHA for Domestic Defense Industrial Base Facilities and Major Range and Test Facilities Base to recruit and appoint qualified candidates to positions in the competitive service. Duties

  • Serves as a crew chief in charge of firefighting personnel on a specified shift.
  • Distributes and balances the workload among employees, assuring timely accomplishment of the assigned workload while making day-to-day adjustments with established priorities.
  • Serves as a driver/operator, driving and operating firefighting apparatus of significant complexity.
  • Serves as a firefighter providing fire protection and respond to medical emergencies as a first responder.
  • Performs maintenance, operational, housekeeping, emergency, and standby duties.

Qualifications

Who May Apply: US Citizens In order to qualify, you must meet the experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application. Additional information about transcripts is in this document. Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes:(1) Controlling or extinguishing fires as a member of an organized military, industrial, volunteer, or governmental fire department or brigade; and (2) Rescue operations and administering emergency medical aid; and (3) Utilizing hazardous material response equipment/supplies to mitigate incidents; and (4) Operate fire apparatus including pumpers and crash trucks to maximize firefighting effectiveness. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-07). ADDITIONAL QUALIFICATIONS REQUIREMENTS In addition to meeting the specialized experience requirement above, applicants must also possess the following below certified through DoD Fire and Emergency Services Certification System, International Fire Service Accreditation Congress (IFSAC), or the Fire Service Professional Qualifications System (PRO-Board) in accordance with DoD 6055.06-M AND a State or National Registry EMT Certification indicating a future expiration date when applicable. Firefighter I Firefighter II Airport Firefighter National Registry Emergency Medical Technician - Basic (if incumbent possesses a state EMT - Basic certification s/he must be able to obtain and maintain NREMT certification within 1 year of appointment) HAZMAT Technician Driver Operator - Pumper Driver Operator - ARFF Fire Inspector I Fire Officer I Fire Instructor I Within the first year of occupying the position, incumbent must obtain and then continue to maintain the following DoD Firefighter certification levels: Driver Operator - Aerial Driver Operator - Mobile Water Supply Wildland Firefighter I You MUST submit a copy of your certifications with your application package.

About US Army Garrison Dugway Proving Grounds The position is located at United States Army Dugway Proving Ground, approximately 50 minutes, from Tooele, Utah, and a 90-minute drive from Salt Lake City, Utah. Dugway offers various alternate work schedule opportunities with most of the workforce working 4 ten-hour shifts Monday through Thursday. DPG is physically remote, entirely self-sufficient with government housing available for Soldiers, civilians, and Contractors. An AAFES PX, Civilian Authorized Commissary, Community Club, Physical Fitness Center, Swimming Pool, Post Chapel, Childcare, Youth Services and Tooele County K-12 school system are on post. Employees choosing to live off post may use subsidized commuter. van transport which operates to and from many of the major cities and towns throughout Utah.
