Full job description

JOB REQUIREMENTS: Foley & Lardner LLP is seeking an associate with 2-6 years of experience to join the Insurance Practice Group in our Chicago, Milwaukee, New York, or Tallahassee office. The associate will work with lawyers across Foley's national platform on a broad range of transactional and regulatory matters for insurers, reinsurers, insurance intermediaries, and other participants in the insurance industry. Qualified candidates will have experience with corporate transactions involving insurance businesses, together with meaningful exposure to insurance regulatory matters. Relevant experience may include mergers and acquisitions, investments, restructurings, reinsurance transactions, joint ventures, and other strategic transactions involving insurers, reinsurers, general agencies, third-party administrators, brokers, and related entities. Experience advising on regulatory approvals, licensing matters, corporate governance, and regulatory due diligence in connection with transactions is also valued. The associate should be prepared to draft and negotiate transaction documents, analyze insurance regulatory requirements, coordinate multijurisdictional workstreams, and help clients navigate the regulatory issues that arise throughout a transaction. The role provides opportunities for direct interaction with partners and clients and for increasing responsibility in managing matters and transaction processes, consistent with the associate's experience level. Candidates should have strong writing, analytical, drafting, and communication skills, sound judgment, and the ability to manage multiple matters in a collaborative environment. Strong academic credentials are required. To be considered, applicants must hold a JD from an ABA-accredited law school and must be active members in good standing of the Bar of the jurisdiction(s) where admitted to practice. Timely admission to the Bar of the state where the hiring office is located will be required as a condition of employment. Foley offers a sophisticated insurance practice within a team-based, positive, and collegial environment. Associates have the opportunity to work on matters that combine insurance industry knowledge with corporate, transactional, and regulatory experience, while collaborating with lawyers across offices and practices. We value creativity and intellectual curiosity among our lawyers and seek to make the practice both professionally and personally rewarding.
