Job Description

Purpose:

The Marketing and Communications Coordinator, under general supervision, writes, edits, designs and assists in the production of informational and promotional materials, presentations and special events. The Communications Specialist assists with the execution of marketing objectives that enables Texas A&M Engineering Experiment Station’s Workforce Development department and its programs, services, and events to meet business objectives. The Workforce Development department’s programming includes outreach, career preparation and continuation and professional education. Works to develop the execution of marketing and communication strategies to enhance brand image.

Responsibilities:

  • Ability to create engaging, audience-specific written content that supports the department’s objectives.

  • Manages social media channels, contributing creative content ideas and engaging with audiences.

  • Contributes creatively to photography, video, and graphic design for digital and social media content.

  • Implements creative strategies and trends in digital communications and analytics.

  • Manages tasks within collaborative teams utilizing project management tools to maintain timelines and resources allocation for marketing projects.

  • Assists in planning, implementing and promoting special events and programs

  • Prepares and coordinates marketing and communications items with vendors for production.

  • Assists in developing and implementing the overall departmental communications plan.

  • Provides support to the Workforce Development operations team by assisting with various tasks and projects as needed, ensuring smooth and efficient functioning of operations.

  • May require occasional evening and weekend work to attend activities and events outside regular work schedule.

  • This position requires direct engagement with minors and youth during program activities. The employee is expected to fully adhere to all university policies and state regulations pertaining to the safety and protection of minors.

  • Performs other duties as assigned.

What we need:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.

  • Two years of related experience.

What is helpful:

  • Experience in and general knowledge of various design, email marketing, digital web, social media, and video monitor platforms (e.g., Adobe Creative Suite, Canva, Emma, Facebook, Google Business, Instagram, LinkedIn, MailChimp, Sprout Social, Hey Orca, and X (formerly Twitter)), is a plus.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Basic photo, video knowledge is a plus.

  • Ability to multitask and work cooperatively with others.

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.

  • Strong interpersonal and organizational skills.

  • Ability to present information clearly and concisely.

About Workforce Development:

The Workforce Development Division of Texas A&M Engineering will be the premier provider of programs, conferences, professional development, and educational opportunities to prepare experts, employees and advocates for STEM-related fields. The Workforce Development Division has six programs: Spark! PK-12 Engineering Education Outreach, ReCENT, Engineering Academies, TEES EDGE Professional Education, Regional Divisions, Conference and Events Planning Services. Through these programs, the division creates and coordinates opportunities worldwide to hone expertise among engineering professionals and train or retrain those interested in emerging engineering fields while concurrently engaging with PK-collegiate educators and students to encourage future engineers.
