Full job description

Mechanical HVAC Project ManagerOwn Major Mechanical Construction Projects. Not Just Coordinate Them.

Most project management jobs talk about schedules.

This one is about ownership.

We're partnering with a leading employee-owned mechanical construction contractor that is delivering some of the most visible HVAC and infrastructure work in Southern California. The team is looking for a Mechanical HVAC Project Manageror a high-potential Assistant PM or Senior Project Engineer ready for the next stepwho understands how mechanical contractors actually deliver projects in the field.

What Makes This Opportunity Different?

This isn't an owner's representative role.

This isn't a facilities or maintenance position.

This isn't a consultant or design-only environment.

We're looking for someone who has worked directly for a mechanical contractor and understands what it takes to move a project from buyout through closeout while balancing field operations, project financials, schedules, procurement, and client expectations.

What You'll Be Responsible For

  • Leading or supporting complex HVAC and mechanical construction projects

  • Managing project budgets, forecasting, job costing, and cost-to-complete reporting

  • Supporting equipment buyout and procurement activities

  • Managing RFIs, submittals, change orders, and contract administration

  • Coordinating with superintendents, foremen, subcontractors, and field teams

  • Driving schedule execution and mitigating project risk

  • Building strong relationships across operations, field leadership, and customers

  • Supporting multiple active projects simultaneously in a fast-paced construction environment

A hands-on construction professional with growing ownership of mechanical scopes and project deliverables

Backgrounds We Love

Experience working directly for HVAC or mechanical subcontractors. The strongest candidates understand contractor-side execution, field operations, labor coordination, procurement, change orders, and project profitability.

Preferred Project Experience

Experience supporting or managing any of the following is highly attractive:

  • Chilled water systems

  • Chiller plants

  • Central utility plants (CUP)

  • Central plants

  • District energy systems

  • Hospital utility infrastructure

  • Airport mechanical systems

  • Mission-critical HVAC infrastructure

  • Large mechanical retrofit and modernization projects

Direct CUP experience is preferred but not required if you've owned comparable mechanical infrastructure work.

What We're Looking For

You should be able to discuss experience with some or all of the following:

  • Mechanical construction project execution

  • Procurement and equipment buyout

  • Job costing and forecasting

  • Cost-to-complete reporting

  • Change-order management

  • Schedule management

  • RFIs and submittals

  • Field coordination

  • Union construction environments

  • Mechanical system installation and construction sequencing

Project complexity and ownership matter more than title alone. Candidates on a strong PM trajectory are encouraged to apply.

What's In It For You?

Long-term backlog of high-profile mechanical construction projects

Clear growth path into increased project ownership and Senior leadership

Competitive compensation, bonus opportunity, and strong career development

Vehicle allowance and project-site mobility support

Collaborative, field-driven culture where execution matters
