Full job description
Supervises daily operations of the department to include chart pick-up, process all charts for chart completion, follow up on medical staff incomplete charts, and follow up on medical record requests. Provides staff oversight to monitor the quality of scanned documents to ensure correct patient documents and labels are within charts. Monitors discharge charts to ensure provider dictation is either complete or an incomplete deficiency assigned. Assist with follow-up of printing EMS records in a timely manner for scanning to the patient’s legal record. Interacts timely and effectively with HIM employees, other departmental and clinical staff, and providers as needed. Must have knowledge of the hospital Master Patient Index database, medical record number merges, moving incorrect accounts to the correct medical record number, and release of patient information functions.
Must be a high school graduate. A two-year college degree is preferred. Must have work experience in a medical and/or hospital office setting with knowledge of Microsoft Office computer applications. Knowledgeable of Meditech hospital network system is a plus. Must be detailed-oriented with the ability to trouble-shoot chart issues with employees. Ability to work with employees in patient care units, outpatient areas, and the ED Department. Ability to be sedentary for long periods of time. Ability to communicate effectively with co-workers and others hospital employees. Ability to work in a demanding environment. Ability to multi-task with work and talking to patients and other customers. Excellent customer service skills and both verbal and written communication skills. Excellent problem-solving skills and organizational skills.
