Full job description

We are hiring for a Senior Scientist in the Gene Therapy field here in Columbus, Ohio! This is a long-term career opportunity and we are looking for someone with at least 5+ years of experience in the Pharmaceutical or Gene Therapy field and a Bachelors or Masters Degree in a scientific field.

Candidates will ideally have experience in upstream or downstream processing, but can be somewhat flexible with that.

Responsibilities

We're seeking an experienced Senior Scientist to lead critical downstream manufacturing activities for viral vector and gene therapy products in a highly regulated cGMP environment. This is an opportunity to apply your expertise in purification, filtration, and formulation while driving process improvements, mentoring team members, and partnering with cross-functional teams to deliver life-changing therapies.

What You'll Do

  • Lead downstream manufacturing operations, including chromatography, filtration, ultrafiltration/diafiltration (UF/DF), and viral vector formulation.

  • Operate, troubleshoot, and optimize advanced manufacturing equipment, including chromatography, filtration, centrifugation, and TFF systems.

  • Monitor process performance, analyze manufacturing data, and resolve process deviations to ensure product quality and operational excellence.

  • Perform in-process testing and quality checks, including pH, conductivity, pressure, and other analytical measurements.

  • Ensure accurate cGMP documentation and compliance with SOPs, batch records, and regulatory requirements.

  • Collaborate with Quality, Manufacturing, and Technical Operations teams to investigate and resolve quality events and deviations.

  • Identify and implement process improvements that enhance efficiency, compliance, and productivity.

  • Mentor and train junior team members on manufacturing processes, troubleshooting, and GMP best practices.

  • Maintain a strong safety culture and stay current on advancements in gene therapy manufacturing technologies and industry regulations.

Qualifications

  • Must have at least a Bachelors or Masters Degree in the field.

  • Must have at least 5+ years of experience in pharmaceutical or gene therapy manufacturing environments (if you are just short of 5 years, we may still be open to considering you depending on specific experience).

  • Experience in upstream or downstream preferred, but not required.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $37.00 - $38.00/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
