Full job description

About Redwood Materials

Redwood Materials was founded in 2017 by JB Straubel, co-founder and former CTO of Tesla, on a simple but radical idea: the critical minerals powering the energy transition already exist. They just need to come back. Today Redwood is the largest lithium-ion battery recycler in North America — recovering, refining, and redeploying critical minerals from end-of-life batteries back into the supply chain. On the energy side, Redwood has deployed the largest second-life battery project in the world, delivering power to AI data centers in months rather than years using proprietary energy architecture engineered entirely in-house. The company is profitable, the market it operates in is projected to grow 20 to 50 times over the next decade, and Redwood is the only company with the supply chain, the technology, and the operational scale to lead it.

Energy Production Planner

The Production Planner is responsible for translating demand and engineering inputs into an executable production plan for Energy Operations at BMC1, keeping builds on schedule and the floor free from planning-driven stoppages. This is a fully on-site role at BMC1. The role owns the monthly production planning cycle, creates the daily and weekly build plan and weekly clear-to-build status, manages NPI trials, and performs staffing, capacity, and planned-downtime scheduling in partnership with engineering. The position partners closely with the Materials Management team, engineering, quality, and Global Supply Chain Management to validate material arrival and receipt against the plan. Success in this role requires strong analytical attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple concurrent planning workstreams in a fast-paced environment.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Create and publish the daily and weekly build plan, confirming and communicating weekly clear-to-build status based on material, labor, and equipment readiness

  • Manage NPI trials on the production line, tracking BOM revisions between ERP and PLM and coordinating with engineering and procurement on discrepancies

  • Partner with the Materials Management team to validate material arrival and receipt against the build plan, and translate plan needs into material priorities and need dates

  • Perform staffing and capacity analysis to align labor and line capacity with the production plan

  • Schedule planned downtime based on engineering requirements, coordinating with engineering and production to minimize schedule impact

  • Publish the monthly build plan, gathering demand inputs, validating MRP outputs, capturing E&O risk, and flagging supply risk with quantified impact to the build plan

  • Coordinate with engineering, quality, and Global Supply Management on schedule-impacting issues

Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities

  • Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain, Operations Management, or a related field; equivalent experience considered

  • 2+ years of experience in production planning, supply chain, or manufacturing operations; energy storage or electronics manufacturing experience preferred

  • Working knowledge of ERP/MRP systems, Oracle preferred

  • Ability to interpret supply chain, production, and capacity data to assess build risk and staffing needs across a multi-component bill of materials

  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel

  • Ability to manage multiple concurrent planning priorities, including build plan creation, NPI trials, and capacity and downtime scheduling, in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment

  • Effective written and verbal communication skills to coordinate across engineering, quality, and supply chain stakeholders

The position is full-time. Compensation will be commensurate with experience.
