Full job description

Rove is looking for a Software Engineer to build the backend and travel infrastructure behind our platform and the AI concierge that helps members plan, book, and earn miles. What you’ll do:

  • Build supply aggregation that brings hotel, flight, and other travel inventory from multiple providers into one reliable platform, including normalization, deduplication, and property mapping.
  • Make search dramatically faster through caching, parallel supplier requests, and smart timeout and fallback handling.
  • Build and ship the AI concierge end to end, from the agent’s tools and prompts to the backend APIs, the web, and the iMessage experience.
  • Design agent tools that are reliable: real prices, verified availability, safe booking flows, with humans approving anything that spends money.
  • Build browser agents that act on a member’s behalf: shopping through Rove links, reservations, and loyalty account tasks.
  • Own quality and performance: eval sets, tracing, monitoring, and fixing failures you find in real conversations and real searches.
  • Work across our stack: NestJS, Next.js, React Native, Postgres and Redis, Temporal, AWS, Stripe, Claude.

You might be a fit if you:

  • Have 3+ years of TypeScript experience, with deep backend depth, and have shipped production systems people depend on.
  • Have integrated and scaled many third-party APIs, and know how to handle latency, rate limits, and inconsistent data.
  • Have built LLM features or agents used by real users, with tool calling, structured output, prompt and context design, and evals.
  • Think in failure modes: retries, timeouts, idempotency, and what happens when the model is wrong.
  • Care about product and UX as much as code: you notice small details and errors.
  • Move fast, own outcomes, and are comfortable with ambiguity at an early-stage startup.

Nice to have:

  • Travel technology: GDS, bed banks, NDC, hotel mapping, or booking engines
  • Search systems and low-latency query infrastructure
  • Browser automation (Playwright, Browserbase, Browser Use)
  • Temporal or other durable workflows
  • Stripe and payments, loyalty APIs, messaging APIs (iMessage, SMS, WhatsApp)
  • AWS, Terraform, Cloudflare
