Full job description

Description

Lead a frontline team at the heart of Amazon's Operations network — where your leadership moves millions of customer orders every day.

As an Area Manager at our Rancho Cordova, CA site, you own a shift and a team — you'll directly shape how customer orders move safely, accurately, and on time. This isn't a desk job; it's a leadership proving ground where your decisions have same-day impact and your team looks to you to set the tone.

Our Operations network delivers for Amazon customers every day across three major workflows: First Mile (where product is housed and ready for order), Middle Mile (where the order is hauled to your area), and Last Mile (when the product is delivered to the customer's door). All workflows have slight building variations, but one thing is constant: our dedication to the customer.

What you'll gain

You'll run a shift in a fast-paced, high-volume Operations environment — hands-on leadership experience you can't get just anywhere. You'll lead people, drive process improvement, and build operational expertise that's valued across the industry. Expect to sharpen your skills in people leadership, data-driven decision-making, safety and quality management, and continuous improvement — the foundation for a long-term career in Operations.

Expect sunshine most of the year, access to parks and the American River trails, strong schools, and far more space for your money than the Bay Area. A great fit for families and anyone who wants outdoor adventure close to home.

What you'll do

  • Support, mentor, and motivate your hourly team — your leadership is the difference-maker

  • Own safety, quality, productivity, and customer delivery promises for your area

  • Partner with Safety, Engineering, Loss Prevention, Quality Assurance, and Human Resources to hit business goals

  • Drive continuous improvement and solve problems in real time on the floor

  • Work in an environment where the noise level varies and can be loud

  • Work in an environment that is subject to variable temperatures and weather (delivery stations include outside loading departments)

  • Continuously climb and descend stairs (applies to sites with stairs)

Our fulfillment network launches new Operations sites every year, providing various opportunities for your professional growth. We hire Area Managers based on location preference and the business’ current openings.

Basic Qualifications
