Description

We are looking for an experienced interim Payroll Supervisor to support a fast-moving payroll function in Dallas, Texas. This Contract position is ideal for a hands-on payroll specialist with strong attention to detail who can step in quickly, manage day-to-day payroll activities, and contribute to stronger processes across the team. The role offers high visibility and close collaboration with payroll, HR, Finance, and Accounting partners to maintain accurate, compliant, and scalable payroll operations.

This is a 3-month contract position

100% ONSITE 5 days a week in downtown Dallas, Texas 75201

Interim Payroll Supervisor (contract position):

Responsibilities:

• Oversee full-cycle payroll activities for employees, ensuring timely and accurate processing across each pay period.

• Work closely with payroll leadership and team members to uphold compliance standards and maintain dependable payroll execution.

• Perform payroll audits, account reconciliations, and reporting tasks to support financial accuracy and operational transparency.

• Evaluate current payroll procedures, identify inefficiencies, and recommend practical improvements that strengthen controls and automation.

• Coordinate with HR, Finance, and Accounting teams to confirm payroll data is aligned with employee records and financial reporting needs.

• Investigate payroll variances, resolve issues promptly, and provide clear guidance on payroll-related questions from internal stakeholders.

• Support payroll system connections and data movement between payroll platforms and the general ledger to improve reliability and accuracy.

• Contribute to payroll-related operational changes by documenting procedures, promoting best practices, and helping the organization scale effectively.

Requirements • 7+ years of progressive payroll experience, including leadership-level responsibility in a corporate environment.

• Demonstrated success processing multi-state payroll for a medium to large employee population.

• Strong knowledge of payroll compliance, tax regulations, deductions, reconciliations, and internal controls.

• Experience serving in a Payroll Supervisor, Payroll Lead, Senior Payroll Analyst, or similar hands-on role.

• Ability to manage payroll responsibilities independently while balancing accuracy, deadlines, and competing priorities.

• Effective communication skills with the ability to partner confidently across payroll, HR, Finance, and Accounting teams.

• Experience with Workday Payroll, ADP Workforce Now, or other payroll platforms that involve integrations and multi-system workflows.

• Background in full-cycle payroll processing for organizations with more than 500 employees is strongly preferred.
