Job Title: Traveling Industrial Project ManagerJob Description

The Traveling Industrial Project Manager leads and delivers large-scale industrial construction projects from preconstruction through closeout. This role is accountable for overall project success, including financial performance, client satisfaction, schedule execution, subcontractor management, cost control, and team leadership. The Project Manager serves as the primary point of contact for owners, design teams, subcontractors, and internal stakeholders while managing project scope, change orders, procurement, scheduling, documentation, and project forecasting. In addition, this position supports business development, preconstruction activities, and the mentoring and development of Project Engineers and Assistant Project Managers.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage large-scale industrial construction projects from preconstruction through project closeout.

  • Own overall project success, including financial performance, schedule adherence, quality, and client satisfaction.

  • Serve as the primary point of contact for owners, engineers, architects, consultants, subcontractors, and internal stakeholders.

  • Manage project scope, including the development, tracking, and implementation of change orders.

  • Oversee project procurement activities, ensuring timely and cost-effective acquisition of materials and services.

  • Develop, maintain, and monitor detailed project schedules using CPM methodologies to ensure on-time delivery.

  • Implement and manage cost control processes, including budgeting, forecasting, and financial reporting.

  • Direct subcontractor management, including selection, contract administration, performance oversight, and coordination.

  • Oversee project documentation such as RFIs, submittals, meeting minutes, and progress reports to maintain accurate records.

  • Ensure effective contract administration and compliance with contractual requirements throughout the project lifecycle.

  • Coordinate and support estimating activities, including quantity takeoffs and evaluation of self-perform work opportunities.

  • Collaborate closely with field operations teams to align project plans with on-site execution and productivity goals.

  • Lead project teams, providing clear direction, communication, and support to achieve project objectives.

  • Mentor and develop Project Engineers and Assistant Project Managers, fostering professional growth and technical competency.

  • Support business development efforts by contributing to proposals, presentations, and client relationship management.

  • Drive project closeout activities, ensuring completion of punch lists, documentation, and turnover requirements.

  • Proactively identify project risks and implement mitigation strategies to protect schedule, budget, and quality.

  • Maintain strong, professional relationships with clients and stakeholders to encourage repeat business and referrals.

Essential Skills

  • Minimum of 5+ years of construction project management experience, preferably as a Project Manager.

  • Proven experience delivering industrial or EPC construction projects.

  • Background in energy, industrial process, or water/wastewater projects.

  • Experience managing commercial, industrial, energy, manufacturing, process, power, or heavy construction projects.

  • Strong knowledge of CPM scheduling and the ability to develop and manage detailed project schedules.

  • Demonstrated expertise in cost control, project financial management, and forecasting.

  • Hands-on experience with subcontract management, including contract administration and performance oversight.

  • Proficiency in managing RFIs, submittals, and other project documentation throughout the construction lifecycle.

  • Experience in project closeout, including punch list management and final documentation.

  • Ability and willingness to travel frequently to project sites.

  • Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or a related field.

  • Experience working directly with owners, engineers, architects, consultants, and subcontractors.

  • Strong understanding of scheduling, procurement, and contract administration in a construction environment.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Experience in estimating, including quantity takeoffs and bid preparation.

  • Exposure to self-perform work and coordination with field operations teams.

  • Experience supporting preconstruction activities and business development efforts.

  • Demonstrated ability to mentor and develop Project Engineers and Assistant Project Managers.

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills for effective collaboration with diverse project stakeholders.

  • Ability to manage multiple projects or phases simultaneously while maintaining attention to detail.

  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to make sound decisions under time and budget constraints.

Work Environment

This is a travel-focused role with frequent trips to active project sites. Most projects are located throughout the Midwest and further South, with limited assignments on the East and West coasts. The work environment centers on large-scale industrial construction settings, requiring regular collaboration with field operations teams, subcontractors, and design professionals. The Project Manager spends time both on-site and in office or project trailer environments, working with scheduling, financial management, procurement, and documentation tools to drive project success.

Job Type & Location

This is a Permanent position based out of Roseville, MN.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $120000.00 - $160000.00/yr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
