Full job description

Overview:

The Scenic and Décor Supervisor is responsible for driving and managing the creation and installation of parkwide décor, props, live show scenery, and seasonal amusement offerings such as haunted houses and interactive guest experiences in concert with Creative Services. This is a leadership role that reports to the Entertainment Manager and oversees the Scenic Leads. This position works 30-39 hours a week with benefits.

Responsibilities:

Responsible for developing and maintaining master project schedule in relation to scenic and décor park elements.

Provide two-week progress projections and ensure the team is meeting important task milestones and deadlines.

Implement and maintain asset inventory system.

Work with Entertainment Manager to review all creative design submissions and approve or edit based upon resources, budget, and timeline.

Identify, analyze, and manage potential and actual risks. Take corrective action or bring for review more serious issues or risks that might impact scope, schedule, quality, and/or cost.

Interface and manage appropriate internal and external resources from design through production and installation.

Develop scopes of work, manage sourcing, interviewing, staffing, and implementation to support all project efforts.

Negotiate with and procure outside resources as necessary and ensure they are on budget and on schedule.

Responsible for meeting all safety regulations and requirements.

Work with Entertainment Manager to ensure any third-party vendor agreements are developed and executed for each scope of work and invoiced appropriately.

Responsible for issuing design installation packages, schedules, budgets, and agendas and communicating with décor project team accordingly.

Set up any required project team meetings (internal or third-party), lead the meetings, and drive them to a conclusion. Articulate and negotiate a consensus on a final vision of the project goals.

Create agendas for project meetings clearly outlining the goals and objectives of each meeting and follow up with notes distributed to the necessary parties. The meeting notes should include documentation of what transpired at the meeting, any action items to be completed, the timeframe required, and who is responsible for their completion.

Provide status reports on schedule, budget, and project on a weekly basis (or more often if requested) to the Entertainment Manager.

Must be able to interpret conceptual artwork to real world application and have a creative eye for design principles. This position requires meticulous attention to detail while maintaining the scope of the bigger picture. Resourceful leader with impeccable organizational and planning skills.

Qualifications:

Preferred bachelor’s degree from a four-year college or university in Design, Art, or Theatre.

Must have experience with all aspects of Haunted Houses such as design, safety, permitting, and technology.

Must have experience with large theatrical set builds.

Must have experience with AutoCAD and SketchUp.

Preferred experience with theme park midway décor design.

Comfortable leading multiple crews of people with a wide range of skill sets and experience levels.

Ability to communicate ideas, concepts, and instructions both orally and in writing.

Must be able to work nights, weekends, and holidays based on business needs.

Must have a valid driver’s license and willingness to train on use of additional park vehicles such as a boom and forklift.

Must be comfortable climbing ladders.

Must be able to lift 25-40lbs.
