Develops basic data and makes preliminary layouts, sketches, and notes necessary to present design proposal. Investigates pertinent design factors such as ease of manufacture, availability of materials and equipment, interchangeability, replaceability, strength-weight efficiency, and contractual specification requirements and cost. Coordinates with other organizations affected by design development. Makes layouts of complex assemblies and details parts of devices, mechanisms, and structures. Checks completed layouts and drawings for clarity, completeness, conformity to standards, procedures, specifications, and accuracy of calculations and dimensioning. Identifies design errors, omissions, and other deficiencies, and recommends revisions and/or improvements in design layout to responsible engineers or designers. Must Have High School diploma and 9 years of experience -or- Associates degree and 7 years of experience -or- Bachelors degree and 5 years of experience -or- Masters degree and 3 years of experience -or- PHD and 0 years of experience Nice to Have The scope of work for this position is to lead the scoping efforts for Detail Design. Functions include receiving an ECP package for scoping, investigating, kicking off the ECP including defining the changes expected, provide oversight / insight of the change during the scoping exercise, review / QA the final package and answer any internal / external questions that come up during the negotiations. Candidate must have significant experience within their area of expertise (Marine Detail Design, Electrical Detail Design or Outfitting Detail Design). Candidate must be a good communicator, driven, self-starter and require very little supervision. A broad background, multiple design disciplines and / or different facets of Engineering, in design is preferred.
