Description
We are looking for an experienced FP& A specialist to lead the creation of a company’s first formal budgeting process and establish a practical planning framework for future cycles. This Long-term Contract position is based in Denton, Texas, and will work closely with senior leadership and the Corporate Controller to translate operational plans into a cohesive financial outlook. The role is ideal for a hands-on individual contributor who is comfortable building models from the ground up, navigating ambiguity, and driving progress in a fast-paced environment.
This is a 6-month contract position
100% ONSITE 5 days a week in Denton, TX
Interim FP& A Manager (contract position):
Responsibilities:

Lead the development of the annual budgeting process from initial planning through final executive review and approval.

Create and manage integrated financial models that connect the income statement, balance sheet, and cash flow forecast on a monthly basis.

Partner with department leaders to gather budget inputs, refine assumptions, and convert operational plans into financial projections.

Build detailed forecasts for revenue, gross margin, payroll, operating expenses, capital spending, working capital, and liquidity.

Validate budget assumptions against historical performance and align projections with the company’s accounting structure and chart of accounts.

Prepare scenario analyses and decision-support materials that help leadership evaluate risks, opportunities, and potential outcomes.

Support multi-entity planning by structuring forecasts for entity-level visibility, consolidated reporting, and intercompany considerations.

Document budgeting methodologies, templates, and processes to create a repeatable forecasting framework for future use.

Contribute to budget implementation activities, including any related process handoff or system-related transition support as needed.
Requirements • 7+ years of experience in financial planning and analysis, budgeting, or corporate finance roles.

Strong expertise in building financial models that integrate operating drivers with full financial statements.

Demonstrated success leading annual budget development in a hands-on capacity.

Ability to work independently in an evolving environment with incomplete information and shifting priorities.

Experience collaborating with senior leaders and cross-functional teams to challenge assumptions and improve planning accuracy.

Solid financial analysis skills across revenue, margin, headcount, operating expenses, capital expenditures, and cash flow.

Background supporting complex or multi-entity organizations is preferred.

Familiarity with small business lending or related financial services environments is a plus.
