Mine Technology and Field Systems Specialist
The Mine Technology, Surveying & Systems Supervisor is responsible for leading mine surveying, operational information systems, contractor safety compliance support, and technology advancement initiatives across active mining operations. This role bridges field execution, digital systems, mine planning support, contractor oversight, and continuous improvement to ensure safe, accurate, efficient, and data-driven mining performance.
What you will do
The Mine Technology, Surveying, & Systems Supervisor is responsible for leading mine surveying, operational information systems, contractor safety compliance support, and advancement initiatives across active mining operations. This role bridges field execution, digital systems, mine planning support, contractor oversight, and continuous improvement to ensure safe, accurate, efficient, and data-driven mining performance.
Key tasks & responsibilities:
Mine Surveying and Field Data Control

Lead and coordinate mine surveying activities to support production, planning, reclamation, stockpile management, and regulatory reporting needs.

Maintain accurate survey control, field measurements, as-built information, pit progress data, haul road layouts, drainage features, and material movement records.

Partner with mine planning, operations, environmental, and contractor teams to ensure survey information is timely, accurate, and usable for operational decision-making. Conducts monthly production reconciliation.

Support development and maintenance of maps, surfaces, models, quantities, and field layouts required for daily, weekly, monthly, and long-range mine execution.
Information Systems and Operational Data

Administer, improve, and support mining information systems used for Slope stability safety systems, production tracking, equipment data, material accounting, fleet management, reporting, and operational visibility.

Ensure data integrity across mine systems by validating inputs, troubleshooting discrepancies, and developing repeatable processes for collecting, reviewing, and reporting operational information.

Serve as a key liaison between operations, IT, engineering, planning, environmental, finance, and contractor groups for system improvements and data needs.

Develop dashboards, reports, workflows, and digital tools that improve mine performance, cost awareness, compliance tracking, and management decision-making.
Contractor Safety Compliance and Field Oversight

Support contractor safety compliance by helping verify required training, site access requirements, work planning documents, inspections, and field expectations are understood and followed.

Coordinate with operations leadership, safety professionals, and contractor supervisors to identify field risks, resolve compliance gaps, and reinforce safe work practices.

Assist with contractor performance documentation related to safety, work execution, technology use, reporting quality, and adherence to mine procedures.

Promote a field-first safety culture by integrating safety considerations into survey work, system changes, new technology deployments, and contractor activities.
Technology Advancement and Continuous Improvement

Identify, evaluate, and implement practical technology improvements that increase safety, productivity, accuracy, compliance, and cost control in mine operations.

Lead or support projects involving mobile equipment technology, fleet systems, GPS capabilities, automation opportunities, digital reporting, drone or survey tools, and integrated mine data platforms.

Develop business cases, implementation plans, training materials, and adoption strategies for new technology initiatives.

Monitor technology performance after implementation and drive corrective actions, upgrades, or process improvements as needed.
Required Qualifications
-
High school diploma or equivalent required
-
Minimum of five years experience in mining, heavy civil construction, industrial operations, surveying, equipment technology, production systems, or contractor field coordination.

Working knowledge of mine safety expectations, contractor compliance processes, field work planning, and operational risk controls.
-
Ability to interpret maps, survey data, production reports, field layouts, and operational data sets.
-
Current Part 48 Mine Safety & Health Administration experienced miner certification
-
Proficiency with common business software and ability to learn, administer, or improve specialized mining and operational technology systems.
Preferred Qualifications
-
Experience with GPS machine control, fleet management systems, MineStar or similar mine technology platforms, GIS, CAD, drone surveying, or 3D modeling tools. Experience with Trimble Business Center.

Field experience in surveying, mining, technology, engineering support, or related discipline preferred.
-
Experience developing operational dashboards, production reports, quantity tracking tools, or material accounting processes.

Familiarity with MSHA requirements, contractor onboarding, site access controls, job hazard analysis, field inspections, and safety documentation.

Strong troubleshooting skills with the ability to connect field observations, system data, and operational performance.

Ability to obtain FAA part 107 drone license.
This posting will expire on October 8th, 2026.
Employees can expect to be paid a salary of $ 73120.00 - 109680.00 per year. Additional compensation may include a bonus or commission (if relevant). Other benefits include health care, vision, dental, retirement, PTO, sick leave, etc. If selected for this role, the offer may vary based on market data/ranges, an applicant’s skills and prior relevant experience, certain degrees and certifications, and other relevant factors.
