Commonwealth Rolled Products is a leading manufacturer of Aluminum rolled products for the Automotive, Commercial, and Industrial markets. The Company operates its production facility in Lewisport, KY with the support of an Automotive Innovation Center for R&D, Sales and Field Service in Madison Heights (DET), and Inside Sales in the Cleveland, OH area.

Our production facility is seeking to add a talented Maintenance Technical Advisor, Electrical, to its Hot Mill Maintenance Team. This position will support maintenance staff in the cost effective sustainment and continual improvement of maintenance operations to reach maximum equipment capabilities; engage the team to drive a continuous improvement culture to eliminate waste, overburden and variability in manufacturing processes; and act as a role model for safety by demonstrating behaviors that align with the Commonwealth safety principles.

Responsibilities Include:

  • Actively participate in maintaining a zero-incident safety culture.

  • Live and champion the Commonwealth Rolled Products core values: Safety Matters, One Team, Customer Focus and Own Excellence.

  • Establish comprehensive, standardized procedures for all short and long-term maintenance work in order to increase equipment utilization and reduce downtime in assigned work area.

  • Assist in diagnosing equipment malfunctions, determining possible causes, and identifying long-term resolutions for future prevention of similar malfunctions.

  • Develop working knowledge of entire Rolling Bay including all controls and processes.

  • Develop and implement back-up plans and options for major equipment failures.

  • Advise on inherent reliability of new equipment installations and redesigns.

  • Advise on inherent safety of new equipment installations and redesigns.

  • Identify early non-conformance of maintenance practices and take appropriate measures to prevent further non-conformance.

  • Maintain accurate records on all equipment in area of responsibility.

  • Monitor sustained maintenance work to ensure execution through Failure Mode and Effect Analysis (FMEA) and Root Cause Analysis.

  • In coordination with maintenance planners, monitor maintenance inventory stock items and “repairable” processing.

  • Along with Area Engineers, work to coach and develop electricians in proper troubleshooting and diagnosing of control and automation issues.

  • Develop and maintain troubleshooting guides for reoccurring equipment issues.

  • Lead and instruct crew members as needed on outages, down turns, and break downs.

  • Support PM optimization process

  • Participate in on-call rotation for equipment break-down support

Required Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or GED.

  • Minimum of five years industrial electrical maintenance experience.

  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills required.

  • Requires excellent planning and organization skills, as well as time management skills.

  • Ability to engage, develop, and lead work groups to reach their maximum potential in achieving both short-term and long-term goals.

  • Ability to create a cooperative, safe, and productive work environment.

  • Ability to effectively coach employees.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering or equivalent strongly preferred.

  • Experience in the metals industry strongly preferred.
