Full job description

Your first software role shouldn't be a gamble. At SkillStorm, getting new engineers launched is the whole business.

We develop technology professionals for Fortune 100 enterprises and U.S. government agencies. You'll start with 12 weeks of paid, hands-on training, working on real projects as part of a team, and then deploy directly to an enterprise or government client, effective day one. You won't pay for a course. You'll be paid in a real role with a defined path from "qualified" to "deployed professional."

Who we're looking for

This role is designed for people at the start of their technical careers: recent graduates, career changers who already have a technical foundation, and transitioning service members and veterans. If you have the fundamentals, the drive, and want a structured way into enterprise software work, keep reading.

How to qualify

You'll need:

  • A bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, IT, or a related technical field

  • At least 1 year of technical work experience

You should also have a working understanding of programming fundamentals: data structures, algorithms, databases and SQL, and software development in an object-oriented language like Java or C#.

Every applicant who meets one of those paths gets an individual review for fit. Not sure you qualify? Apply anyway. Deciding that is our job, so don't rule yourself out.

What sets strong candidates apart

  • Sharp problem-solving and logical reasoning skills

  • Clear written and verbal communication with both teammates and stakeholders

  • Eligibility to obtain a U.S. government security clearance

  • Willingness to relocate for a client placement

  • Legal authorization to work in the U.S. as a SkillStorm W2 employee (no C2C arrangements)

A note for veterans and transitioning service members

Structured training, a clear mission, clearance-eligible work, and relocation support: this model fits the way you already work. We actively want you in this pipeline.

Your work after deployment

  • Develop and improve applications using your client's languages, frameworks, and tools

  • Write clean, efficient, well-organized code that meets professional standards

  • Troubleshoot and resolve defects, and provide technical support

  • Take part in code reviews, both giving and receiving constructive feedback

  • Work with stakeholders to turn business requirements into technical specifications

  • Support testing and production deployments, and keep technical documentation current

  • Stay up to date on industry tools and techniques through ongoing training

What you get with SkillStorm

  • A competitive salary, paid from day one, not training you fund yourself

  • Enterprise-level technology training and certifications

  • Placement with Fortune 100 companies and government agencies

  • Health, vision, dental, and life insurance, plus a 401(k)

  • Ongoing mentorship and support through training and into placement
