Certified Pharmacy Technician Specialist (CPhT) - Simpsonville Medical Center

Job Summary:

The Certified Pharmacy Technician Specialist is responsible for providing pharmacy services, including, but not limited to preparing pharmaceuticals, performing inventory control, compliance audits, and financial transactions, providing customer service, and maintaining pharmacy records. The Certified Pharm Tech Specialist will lead specialized activities within the department which will include the following job functions: Chemotherapy IV Compounding, Sterile IV Preparation Oversight, Research, and much more.

Essential Functions:

  • Receiving and verifying the accuracy and authenticity of prescriptions

  • Reviewing and recording patient information with their prescription in compliance with the guidelines of the General Pharmaceutical Council

  • Assists in the education and precepting of new pharmacy technicians, pharmacy students, performance improvement activities

  • Providing instructions to educate people on the correct way to take their medicine

  • Protecting employees and patients by adhering to infection-control protocols and policies

  • Other duties as assigned

Education:

  • High School Degree or GED

Licensure/Certification:

  • ExCPT Certification provided by the National Health Career Association or Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB) certification and registration with State Board of Pharmacy (required)

  • Valid state driver’s license (required)

Experience:

  • 1 year of experience in Retail, Ambulatory, Outpatient, Hospital, Acute Care, or Home Infusion pharmacy (required)

Skills & Abilities:

  • Ability to be proactive in a rapidly changing environment

  • Engage with staff and patients in a professional manner

  • Possesses problem-solving skills with excellent communication and interpersonal skills

  • Requires knowledge of pharmacy terminology, medication names, and aseptic technique
