Full job description

About Artie Artie is a real-time streaming platform that moves production data across systems in real time, with zero maintenance. We make high-volume data replication simple, reliable, and scalable for engineering teams. Our platform powers mission-critical use cases including fraud and risk monitoring, inventory visibility, customer-facing analytics, and AI workloads. Artie is built for engineers who care about performance, reliability, and operational simplicity — and we’re growing fast.‍ We’re trusted by teams like ClickUp, Substack, and Alloy, and backed by top-tier investors including Y Combinator, General Catalyst, Pathlight Ventures, and the founders of Dropbox and Mode. About the role We're hiring our first Business Development Representative to build pipeline for our early sales motion. This is a ground-floor seat: you'll help define how Artie prospects, qualifies, and opens conversations with data and engineering leaders, working directly with our founders and go-to-market lead rather than through layers of management or a scripted playbook someone else wrote. It's a strong fit for someone early in their sales career who wants outsized ownership and a fast path into technical, solution-based selling. What you'll do

  • Generate qualified pipeline through outbound prospecting into target accounts: data engineering teams, data platform/infra, and AI-driven companies wrestling with stale or brittle data pipelines
  • Research accounts, industries, and personas to craft outreach that's actually personalized, not templated
  • Prospect and qualify inbound interest, quickly separating real buying signals (someone hitting the wall on Fivetran batch latency, DMS reliability, or a homegrown Debezium/Kafka setup) from noise
  • Run multi-channel outbound campaigns across email, cold calls, LinkedIn, and video, sequencing that respects a technical buyer's time
  • Conduct discovery conversations to uncover technical pain points and initiatives, learning enough about change data capture, logical replication nuances across different databases, and schema evolution to have a credible first conversation with a data engineer or CTO
  • Engage data, engineering, and executive personas, then hand off warm, well-qualified meetings
  • Be the first impression of Artie for prospective customers evaluating us against Fivetran, AWS DMS, Debezium, and Confluent
  • Work directly with founders and the GTM lead to shape territory strategy and pipeline process as the team scales. What you build now becomes how the next ten reps work
  • Consistently hit or exceed activity, meeting-generation, and pipeline targets

What we're looking for

  • 1–2+ years of experience in SaaS, cloud, infrastructure, or technology sales development (strong new grads with clear sales aptitude will also be considered)
  • Genuine curiosity about data infrastructure, AI, and technical products, and comfort developing an understanding in concepts like CDC, Kafka offsets, and exactly-once delivery, not just software terminology in general
  • Strong, direct written and verbal communication. You can write a cold email a data engineer will actually read
  • A track record of consistent, measurable over-achievement against goals or quotas
  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple accounts and priorities at once
  • High ownership and grit: comfortable with the ambiguity of an early-stage startup, where process is something you help build, not something handed to you
  • Based in or willing to relocate to San Francisco; this is an in-person role

Bonus points

  • Experience selling into data, engineering, or IT organizations
  • Familiarity with the modern data stack: Snowflake, Databricks, BigQuery, dbt, Postgres, or Kafka/Debezium-style pipelines
  • Comfortable using AI tools (Claude and similar) or sales engagement platforms to sharpen research, messaging, and productivity
  • Previous experience in a high-growth, early-stage startup environment

Compensation & benefits Base salary: $80-105K OTE: $115-150K

  • Equity in the company: every employee is an owner
  • Medical, dental, and vision insurance
  • Unlimited PTO, plus all federal holidays and sick leave
  • 401(k) with employer contribution
  • $200/month wellness & commuter stipend
  • $500/year learning & development allowance
  • Free lunch, dinner, and snacks in the office
  • Visa sponsorship available
