The Brookside School, located in Cottekill, is seeking substitute Certified Teaching Assistants.

Our Teaching Assistants, under the guidance and supervision of our Special Education Teachers, conduct small group and individual instruction, and monitor the progress of our amazing students. You will also assist in related instructional work as required.

SCHEDULE: 8:45 am to 2:15 pm - Monday through Friday

STARTING SALARY:

Level 1: $ 17.38 to $ 19.12 per hour

Level 3: $ 18.16 to $ 19.98 per hour

Minimum Requirements

Level 1:

  • High School diploma or equivalent.

  • Experience with both preschool and school-age children with intellectual and developmental disabilities preferred.

  • Computer experience including a good working knowledge of Microsoft Word and Outlook.

  • Excellent communication skills to be able to articulate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing.

  • Establish and maintain professional and courteous working relationships with all internal staff and external stakeholders.

  • Pass ATAS.

  • Workshops: Child Abuse, School Violence Prevention, six (6) hours of Harassment, Bullying and Discrimination Prevention and Intervention Training (valid for 3 years/maybe renewed once for three (3) with a commitment for employment. Commitment for employment must be verified by district using superintendent statements via TEACH online services

Level 3:

  • All of the above in Level 1, and must have one (1) year of experience as a Teaching Assistant 1 and a total of 18 college credits, continuously valid with 100 CTLE hours every five (5) year registration cycle
