Duties & Responsibilities:
Viavi Solutions is seeking a Manufacturing Engineer to optimize production processes, improve efficiency, and ensure high-quality product output for our optical and photonics components.

Design, develop, and implement new manufacturing processes, equipment, and tooling for optical component production.

Analyze existing manufacturing processes to identify areas for improvement in terms of efficiency, cost reduction, and quality.

Develop and maintain detailed manufacturing documentation, including work instructions, process specifications, and test procedures.

Lead and participate in troubleshooting activities for manufacturing issues, identifying root causes and implementing corrective actions.

Collaborate with R&D, Design Engineering, and Quality teams to ensure manufacturability of new products and smooth transitions from development to production.

Perform statistical process control (SPC) and other data analysis to monitor process performance and drive continuous improvement initiatives.

Evaluate and qualify new materials and components for manufacturing applications.

Ensure compliance with safety regulations and company quality standards.

Provide technical support and training to manufacturing personnel.
Pre-Requisites / Skills / Experience Requirements:
Qualifications:
-
Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Materials Science, or a related technical field.

3+ years of experience in manufacturing engineering, preferably in an optical, photonics, or semiconductor manufacturing environment.

Strong understanding of manufacturing principles, lean manufacturing, and Six Sigma methodologies.

Experience with process development, equipment selection, and tooling design.

Proficiency in statistical analysis tools and techniques (e.g., JMP, Minitab).

Familiarity with CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks, AutoCAD).

Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and communication skills.

Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
