Job Title: Construction Project ManagerJob Description

The Construction Project Manager oversees and coordinates commercial construction projects from initial planning through completion. This role provides leadership during the early planning stages by collaborating closely with clients, architects, engineers, and other stakeholders to ensure each project is delivered safely, on time, within budget, and in accordance with all plans, specifications, and regulations.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage assigned construction projects from conception through completion, ensuring alignment with scope, schedule, and budget.

  • Collaborate with clients, architects, engineers, and other project stakeholders during the initial planning phase to define project objectives and expectations.

  • Review and interpret contracts, plans, specifications, and applicable regulations to ensure full compliance throughout the project lifecycle.

  • Coordinate and oversee day-to-day project activities, including scheduling, resource allocation, and progress tracking.

  • Monitor project performance and proactively address issues, delays, or changes to keep the project on track.

  • Analyze construction, engineering, and architectural documents to identify potential risks and develop effective solutions.

  • Communicate clearly and consistently with all project participants, providing updates, clarifications, and guidance as needed.

  • Make timely, informed decisions under pressure when unexpected occurrences or delays arise on the project.

  • Effectively multitask across multiple responsibilities, including planning, problem-solving, and coordination of field and office activities.

  • Ensure that all work complies with safety standards, building codes, and other relevant regulations.

  • Use project management and office software tools to prepare reports, documentation, and project correspondence.

  • Support a culture of professionalism, quality workmanship, and strong client relationships.

Essential Skills

  • Proven project management experience in commercial construction.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and related project or construction software.

  • Thorough understanding of contracts, construction plans, specifications, and regulations.

  • Ability to remain flexible and efficient in a fast-paced environment.

  • Ability to make intelligent and timely decisions under pressure and when faced with unexpected issues or delays.

  • Strong multitasking skills with the ability to analyze and solve complex problems.

  • Thorough understanding of engineering, architectural, and other construction documents.

  • Bachelors degree in Construction Science, Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or equivalent relevant experience.

  • At least five years of construction experience.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Construction Manager certification from the American Institute of Constructors or the Construction Management Association of America preferred but not required.

  • Experience working on commercial construction projects.

  • Demonstrated ability to build strong relationships with clients, design professionals, and trade partners.

  • Background in a family-oriented or closely held construction business environment is a plus.

Work Environment

This role primarily operates in an office setting with regular visits to active construction sites. Time on jobsites involves exposure to weather conditions and typical construction site hazards. The position requires the ability to traverse and inspect all areas of the jobsite, including walking, climbing, reaching, bending, crawling, and stretching. The Construction Project Manager must be able to lift up to 50 pounds as needed. Some travel may be required to visit project locations or attend meetings. This is an exempt position with a minimum expectation of 45 hours per week. The standard schedule is Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., with occasional evening and weekend hours to attend business functions or address project needs outside normal business hours. The Project Manager must remain reachable by phone to respond to time-sensitive issues beyond the regular workday. Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $70000.00 - $85000.00/yr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
