Job Description
Insight Global is seeking a Low Voltage Tech for a top utility and energy client. This candidate will support critical communications and infrastructure projects throughout substations, operations centers, service facilities, control centers, and other utility locations. The ideal candidate will possess a strong combination of electrical systems expertise, structured cabling experience, and fiber optic knowledge. Responsibilities include installing, maintaining, testing, certifying, and troubleshooting communications infrastructure while ensuring compliance with safety, quality, and utility standards. This individual will work closely with engineers, technicians, contractors, and project teams to support the reliability and expansion of mission-critical utility communication networks. This is an excellent opportunity for a hands-on field professional looking to play a key role in large-scale infrastructure modernization projects within a growing utility environment.
Day-to-Day: Install and maintain electrical and communications infrastructure Terminate, test, certify, and troubleshoot copper and fiber cabling Perform fiber splicing, OTDR testing, and certification testing Support communication projects across substations, service centers, and operations facilities Maintain documentation, test records, and as-built drawings Ensure compliance with safety and quality standards
This role will be based out of Amarillo, TX but covers a large area in the field and a company vehicle will be provided so a valid driver's license and record is required. The role will be four-10 hour shifts on Monday through Thursday with possible overtime on Fridays.
Compensation: $55/hr to $59/hr.
Exact compensation may vary based on several factors, including skills, experience, and education.
Employees in this role will enjoy a comprehensive benefits package starting on day one of employment, including options for medical, dental, and vision insurance. Eligibility to enroll in the 401(k) retirement plan begins after 90 days of employment. Additionally, employees in this role will have access to paid sick leave and other paid time off benefits as required under the applicable law of the worksite location.
Skills and Requirements
-5+ years of electrical, telecommunications, structured cabling, or related experience -Experience with OTDR equipment
- Copper and fiber optic installation/troubleshooting experience
- Experience reading electrical and telecom drawings
- Valid Driver's License BICSI Certification Visio or AutoCAD experience BICSI Installer 2 (Copper/Fiber) or RCDD FOA Certifications OTDR, fiber splicing, and Fluke testing experience Utility, SCADA, WAN/LAN, radio, or microwave communications experience Manufacturer certifications (Corning, CommScope, Panduit, etc.)
