Description
We are looking for an experienced Human Resources (HR) Director to strengthen people operations and help build a consistent, compliant, and employee-focused HR function in Beaufort, South Carolina. This position will partner closely with Depertment Heads across the organization to improve hiring practices, support employee development, and reinforce a positive workplace culture. The ideal candidate brings a practical approach to process improvement, sound judgment in employee matters, and the ability to create structure that supports long-term growth.
Responsibilities:
-
Lead the development, review, and enforcement of HR policies, procedures, and training standards to support compliance and reduce organizational risk across multiple departments.
-
Guide full-cycle recruiting efforts by improving hiring workflows, promoting fair selection practices, and helping create a consistent experience for candidates and hiring managers.
-
Collaborate with department leaders to identify skill gaps, shape training initiatives, and support the rollout of learning resources that strengthen employee performance.
-
Acting as an ambassador for addressing employee issues by bringing the employee and mangers together to resolve any conflicts. We want HR to be present for guidance, but we want the Directors and managers to work out the issues within their departments unless the issue escalates above the manager.
-
Design and advance engagement programs that encourage communication, improve the employee experience, and reinforce a strong workplace culture.
-
Create, organize, and maintain clear HR documentation, including policy materials, templates, and performance management resources accessible to managers and administrative teams.
-
Advise business leaders and executive stakeholders on employee relations, performance concerns, workplace conflict, and HR policy interpretation.
-
Oversee the move from paper-based HR administration to more efficient digital tools and support the implementation of systems that improve reporting and performance tracking.
-
Mentor HR support staff and help establish standardized practices for onboarding, documentation, and day-to-day HR operations.
Requirements
-
Demonstrated success building HR processes and documentation in environments that require greater structure and operational consistency.
-
Strong knowledge of HR compliance, employee relations, and policy administration with the ability to apply sound judgment in sensitive situations.
-
Experience leading organizational change and gaining adoption for new processes, tools, or ways of working.
-
Ability to partner effectively with senior leaders and provide practical, data-informed guidance on people-related matters.
-
Proficiency with HRIS platforms (Paycor), applicant tracking systems, and performance management tools, with confidence learning and implementing new technology.
-
High level of discretion and professionalism when managing confidential employee information.
-
Background in talent acquisition, onboarding, employee engagement, and learning and development initiatives.
-
Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, including the ability to work across diverse teams and leadership levels.
