Job Duties:

  • The Child Support Services Interstate Specialist is responsible for reviewing and determining action to take on incoming child support referral from county Department of Social Services offices. clerks of court and general public. Use considerable judgment in determining proper action requited, accuracy and conformity with federal regulations. so that each case is brought to proper conclusion.

  • Cross reference interstate petitions with the PACSS system to ensure no duplication of cases on the system. Enter all interstate transmittals on-line entry to the PACSS system.

  • Manage caseload to ensure appropriate actions are taken in accordance with federally mandated time frames. Maintain case record in accordance with FR 45 CFR 303.10.

  • Process incoming interstate transmittals and correspondence submitted by other states, tribal actions and countries.

  • Review interstate transmittals for required documents per Uniform Interstate Family Support Act (UIFSA).

  • Provide updates and assists m processing information to appropriate offices with Child Support Services Division and the county Clerk of Court offices to ensure proper child support collection and the distribution thereof.

  • Correspond with other states requesting status of petitions within 5 days by mail. Ensures all phone inquires are returned within 2 business days.

  • Represent the agency in a positive manner by placing customer service as in integral job priority through the completion of job duties and/or service.

  • To ensure that personal identifying information (PII) is properly used. accessed, gathered, shared and disposed. To protect the agency networks and applications by safeguarding systems, equipment and data.

  • Other projects and related duties as assigned by the supervisor.

  • Perform Red Cross shelter duty or other emergency shelter duty/services as directed.

A High School Diploma and three (3) years of experience in clerical, administrative, social work, correctional, business administration or general business.

An Associate Degree and one (1) year of experience in clerical, administrative, social work, correctional, business administration or general business.

A Bachelor's Degree or higher may substitute for part or all work experience. This application for employment with the SC Department of Social Services must be completed in its entirety. Must possess a valid driver's license and have access to and be able to operate a motor vehicle. Individuals must comply with necessary field work assignments.
