Job Description

Ensure all job duties are conducted in a safe and professional manner at all times. The Assistant must follow the chain of command and report directly to the Production Supervisor, or a more experienced Operator (Extrusion) for all aspects of their job functions. The Assistant is directly responsible for the safety, quality, output, and housekeeping of their assigned lines.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following: (Other duties as assigned) *This position requires skill progression and testing.

MANUFACTURING;

Duties include assisting with line setup, start-up, scrap-control, quality checks, new hire training, packing out the finished product, and any other duties set forth by the Shift Supervisor. Complete all required paperwork. Inform the supervisor immediately of all maintenance issues prior to the request being filled out as well as quality, resin, housekeeping, safety, or production issues. The employee will be expected to fill in for the Operator in their absence, based on their development and overall experience level.

OPERATIONAL COMMUNICATIONS;

Verbally communicate with co-workers on problems and activities.

HEALTH AND SAFETY;

Adheres to safety policies and procedures in compliance with Amcor's guidelines. Visually inspects work environment for hazards, equipment safeguards, employees' safety, and adherence to policies. Maintain compliance with OSHA, company, and housekeeping rules.

QUALIFICATIONS

To perform this job successfully an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

High school diploma or equivalent or previous manufacturing experience is preferred.

LANGUAGE SKILLS

Ability to read, write, understand and communicate in English. Ability to understand and carry out oral and written instructions and to request clarification when needed.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

Ability to do functional math; i.e. adding, subtracting, multiplying, and division. Accurately read a tape measure.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of the job. The employee must be able to follow and execute directions from other employees, operators, and/or supervisors. The employee must be able to keep up with moderate-speed production machines.

Manual dexterity is required with exposure to arm, wrist, and back fatigue. The employee continuously uses their arms, hands, and fingers to handle, grasp, hold, grip, and squeeze. The employee routinely bends and lifts up to 50 pounds of plastic over a twelve (12) hour shift, pulls and drags sheets of plastic, rearranges and organizes products, climbs stairs, pushes a broom to clean the production floor, and handles hot material and equipment.

The employee stands for approximately 10 hours and frequently walks in the production area to locate materials and check materials. Stretching and reaching to reprocess discarded plastic is done on a routine basis. The employee routinely steps up 1 feet and pulls themselves into the seat of a forklift. The operation of roll carts, pallet jacks, and lifting equipment is essential to job responsibilities.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions on this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is constantly exposed to moving mechanical parts. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate to very loud. The employee is continuously exposed to temperature variances; extreme heat during the Summer and cold temperatures during the Winter. An essential part of this position is to work in a teamwork environment.
