Responsibilities

Related Digital is seeking a Director of Solutions Engineering, to lead client technical engagements through lease execution. This role combines technical precision with strategic leadership to ensure all engagements result in exceptional design quality, project success, and client satisfaction. The Director acts as a technical integrator and decision leader, ensuring that complex electrical engineering provisions are aligned, documented, and actionable across teams and clients. This position reports to the Vice President of Engineering.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead client-facing electrical engineering engagements and presentations - serve as the lead in client meetings, coordinating internal SMEs to communicate solutions effectively, deliver briefings and design reviews, and manage client relationships with clarity and confidence

  • Collaborate and partner with internal Development, Construction, Sales and Operations teams - knowledge of data campus master planning and greenfield site developments, with a focus on power delivery and utility infrastructure

  • Support all facility types - oversee electrical design and engineering efforts for greenfield builds incorporating next-generation technologies such as liquid-cooled GPU environments, high-density power distribution, and other high-density workload needs and future flexibility

  • Translate complex client needs into actionable electrical designs and project plans

  • Develop and negotiate technical lease provisions and SLAs related to power capacity, redundancy, and reliability - integrate lease and SLA discussions into client engagements to ensure clear, consistent, and precise technical terms through execution

  • Manage cross-functional technical teams across electrical, mechanical, and controls engineering to deliver cohesive, high-quality design solutions

  • Ensure design and contract governance - oversee the electrical engineering and contracting lifecycle, maintaining alignment with Related Digital standards, technical accuracy, and client objectives

Project Facilitation and Technical Integration

  • Lead electrical and power infrastructure technical review meetings, framing objectives, decision criteria, and expected outcomes

  • Facilitate SME presentations, calling on electrical and mechanical technical leads to provide rationale for engineering provisions while maintaining meeting scope and time control

  • Translate technical language across disciplines and for non-technical stakeholders, ensuring full comprehension and traceability of decisions

  • Synthesize technical input into clear project recommendations, capturing what was decided, why, and what it impacts across cost, schedule, compliance, and power reliability

  • Identify cross-discipline integration risks early, particularly around power delivery, cooling, and electrical infrastructure interfaces

  • Maintain neutrality in technical discussions, guiding consensus and linking engineering outcomes to client priorities and contractual requirements

  • Document decisions and actions in real time; track follow-ups

Qualifications

  • Minimum 10 years of experience leading strategic technical delivery within data center or mission-critical environments

  • Deep understanding of data center design, construction, and operations across civil, architectural, mechanical, electrical disciplines

  • Experience with one-story, two-story, precast, steel and pre-engineered metal buildings (PEMB) structures in addition to liquid cooling, GPU clusters, and high-density infrastructure for next generation data centers

  • Demonstrated success in client-facing technical roles, including RFP/RFI responses, presentations, and lease/SLA negotiations

  • Strong grasp of the data center lifecycle from concept through lease execution and commissioning

  • Proficiency with MS Office, AutoCAD/Visio, Bluebeam, and CFD tools

  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant architectural, engineering or design discipline

  • Based in or willing to relocate to Dallas TX or New York NY
