The DNR is seeking one (1) Central Services Administrative Specialist Intermediate at Itasca State Park. This position exists to assist the Retail Operations supervisor with the merchandise program operation at Itasca State Park and requires use of computer software to maintain accurate inventory counts, data entry for vendor and item files, and replacement ordering.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Establishing work priorities and deadlines, based on the following duties:

  • Checking in merchandise,

  • Pricing merchandise.

  • Verifying and approving invoices.

  • Inventory control.

  • Transferring merchandise to the retail stores.

  • Working with store staff to ensure that their inventory needs are met.

  • Maintain POS system in regards to receiving merchandise and inventory records so that established fiscal policies are followed and business is conducted in an organized and professional manner.

  • Arrange and display products, keeping traffic flow and customer volume in mind, so that merchandise is appealing and organized to attract potential customers.

  • Facilitate the end of year physical inventory process to ensure accurate inventory counts and minimize negative impact to the bottom line.

This position is a year-round position, part-time with an expected 36 hours per week, typically Monday-Friday but may vary to include weekends and holidays.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Knowledge of customer service practices and principles sufficient to identify each customer’s needs, meet quality standards for services, that result in customer satisfaction

  • Knowledge of computerized inventory management software systems and applications, sufficient to evaluate the current system and recommend system changes.

  • Skills in math sufficient to handle sales transactions, make change, apply simple formulas, calculate balances and amounts owed.

  • Skills in data entry sufficient to receive and review source documents, compare documents to database information, and edit documents

  • Skills in communication sufficient to read, understand, and respond to a variety of communications, such as customers’ questions, product catalogs, requisitions, purchase orders, detailed instructions and procedures, inventory records, and distribution lists.

  • Skills in accounting sufficient to reconcile differences between invoices, receipts and purchase orders, and assess needs based on data and events.

  • Ability to present information to diverse customers.

  • Ability to calculate and verify totals on reports, forms, requisitions, or bills, using a calculator, computer, and/or other tools.

  • Ability to move and/or transport items weighing up to 50 pounds with or without accommodation on a regular basis.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Associate's Degree in Business Management, Marketing, Retail Sales, Merchandising or related field.

  • 2 years of retail warehousing or inventory experience.

  • Public relations skills sufficient to manage difficult and/or impatient clientele.

  • Ability to work in a team environment.

Additional Requirements

This position requires an unrestricted Class D Driver’s license with a clear driving record. Per DNR Fleet Policy, only those 18 years of age or older with a valid driver’s license may operate equipment and vehicles on behalf of the Agency.
