POWDER LAB TECHNICIAN - VulcanForms (Devens, MA) VulcanForms - founded to develop the world?s first industrially scalable laser metal additive manufacturing solution. We build and operate advanced digital infrastructure combining scalable additive manufacturing and precision machining in a clean, safety-focused facility. About the Role: Perform laboratory testing and characterization of metal powders used across the additive manufacturing process. Execute routine analyses, prepare and track samples, operate and maintain lab equipment, document results in lab systems, and support engineers with material investigations, qualification, and process development. On-site role in Devens, MA; hourly, non-exempt with multiple levels. Key Responsibilities: - Perform routine powder characterization testing on incoming, in-process, reused, and recycled metal powders following established procedures - Prepare, label, handle, and store powder samples with full material traceability - Operate instruments for particle size, flowability, density, and other powder analyses - Record, review, and document laboratory results in databases and quality systems - Assist engineers with material investigations, qualification activities, and root cause analysis - Maintain lab cleanliness, consumables, and equipment; perform inspections, preventative maintenance, and calibration checks - Follow SOPs, work instructions, quality procedures, and safety requirements for reactive metal powders - Support continuous improvement initiatives to enhance lab efficiency and standard work - Collaborate with Engineering, Manufacturing, Quality, and Operations to support production priorities Qualifications: - Associate degree in Materials Science, Chemistry, Engineering Technology, Manufacturing Technology or related field, or equivalent laboratory/manufacturing experience - 2+ years laboratory, manufacturing, quality, or materials testing experience preferred - Experience operating laboratory instruments and following standardized test procedures - Strong attention to detail, documentation discipline, and ability to produce accurate, repeatable data - Comfortable with computers, spreadsheets, databases, or manufacturing software - Strong organizational and time management skills; able to work independently and in a team - Excellent written and verbal communication skills - Commitment to laboratory safety and proper PPE use - Ability to stand/walk for extended periods and lift up to 40 pounds Preferred: - Experience with metal powders, powder metallurgy, additive manufacturing, or advanced manufacturing - Familiarity with particle size analysis, Hall flow testing, density measurements, or other powder characterization techniques - Experience with LIMS or MES, calibration activities, or ISO-controlled environments - Background in aerospace, medical device, semiconductor, or regulated industries Compensation: - Level 1: $19.93 - $27.40 / hr - Level 2: $19.93 - $33.00 / hr - Level 3: $29.42 - $40.45 / hr - Level 4: $31.16 - $42.84 / hr *Actual level and compensation based on skills, qualifications, and experience.
