Job Description

Provides technical support to manufacturing and related functions specific to marine coating paint operations and Media Blast Facilities. Researches, develops, and improves manufacturing processes, methods, and systems for products, facilities, fixtures, tooling, equipment, and/or materials. Develops and tests work methods and procedures, ensuring performance and quality of materials, products, and machines meet specifications and standards. Ensures technical outcomes are consistent with established engineering principles and practices and that customer and company technical, system, performance, and quality requirements are met.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Support daily operations required to accomplish a wide variety of tasks related to the preparation and painting of ship equipment to military standards .

  • Oversee and support all Blast and Paint processes of all submarine parts in assigned area; utilizing and adhering to the A4 paint specification

  • Creates, plans, and performs engineering design, development, analysis, experimentation, test, and/or product assurance tasks of moderate complexity for assigned portions of a project. Ensures tasks meet cost, quality, schedule, and performance requirements.

  • Applies engineering design and/or analytical theory, principles, techniques and practices to a portion of a technical project.

  • Applies basic knowledge of the design of organization's products and technology to solve moderately complex and clearly defined engineering problems. Selects the best method or process from among several existing alternatives.

  • Develops and writes technical documentation, makes revisions to existing documentation, and provides input to technical papers or presentations. May deliver technical presentations.

  • Issue processes and production orders for ongoing shipsets

  • Performs technical analysis, testing, calculations, and evaluation of results to solve moderately complex engineering problems using specialized equipment and/or by computer programs.

  • Analyzes and interprets design specifications, drawings, documentation, models, and/or test results to ensure technical designs comply with applicable engineering standards, military specifications, and product requirements.

  • Provides input to project leaders for the development of project plans, schedules, and budgets

  • Layout and organize dimensions of incoming raw castings for secondary processing

  • Optimize assembly processes in area as assigned

  • Issue and organize production orders for spares of current and future shipsets

  • Procurement and tracking of all needed materials for part processing in assigned area

Required Education, Experience, & Skills

  • Typically a Bachelor's Degree (technical discipline) plus four years of relevant work experience. Will accept experience in lieu of education.

  • Experience in root cause/corrective action- preventive action.

  • Hands-on floor support or manufacturing experience, working with shop employees.

  • Must be able to obtain a DOD Confidential Clearance within 60 days of hire.

Preferred Education, Experience, & Skills

  • Experience with military specifications and defense industry best practices

  • Understanding of the A4 paint specification

  • Gauge and equipment calibration and control ISO 9001-2008 experience

  • Experience in processes of spray painting military or ships and equipment

  • Experience with commercial blast room equipment and abrasive blasting of military or commercial ships

  • Must be familiar with the use and maintenance of full face, continuous flow, respirator, and ventilation systems

  • Current DOD clearance

Pay Information

Full-Time Salary Range: $88189 - $149922

Please note: This range is based on our market pay structures. However, individual salaries are determined by a variety of factors including, but not limited to: business considerations, local market conditions, and internal equity, as well as candidate qualifications, such as skills, education, and experience.
