Android Software Developer (Java/Kotlin)Position Summary

Seeking an experienced Android Software Developer to support the development and enhancement of Android-based automotive diagnostic applications used on Samsung and Lenovo tablet platforms. This role focuses on building mobile applications that communicate with connected automotive devices, support Linux-based updates, and deliver advanced diagnostic functionality. The ideal candidate will have strong Android development experience with Java and Kotlin, along with experience integrating software with hardware devices.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, develop, test, and maintain Android applications using Java and Kotlin.

• Develop new features and enhancements for automotive diagnostic tablet applications.

• Integrate mobile applications with connected devices, firmware, and communication interfaces.

• Collaborate with firmware, software, and content development teams.

• Support application updates and interactions with Linux-based systems.

• Troubleshoot and resolve mobile application, device communication, and performance issues.

• Participate in code reviews and follow secure software development practices.

• Contribute to application architecture, design decisions, and continuous improvement initiatives.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field.

• 5+ years of Android software development experience.

• Strong proficiency in Java and Kotlin.

• Experience developing Android applications for tablets and mobile devices.

• Experience integrating applications with external hardware or connected devices.

• Familiarity with Linux operating systems.

• Knowledge of software design patterns and secure development practices.

• Experience working in Agile development environments.

Preferred Qualifications

• Automotive industry experience.

• Experience with Bluetooth, USB, Wi-Fi, or other device communication protocols.

• Experience developing diagnostic or connected-device applications.

• Experience supporting enterprise-level mobile applications.

• Experience collaborating across firmware and software development teams.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Owatonna, MN.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $55.00 - $75.00/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
