Lockport. Barry Steel Fabrication. Structural Steel Fabricator/Welder. $22 - $30/hour. Job Overview We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Structural Steel Fabricator/Welder to join our growing manufacturing team. In this role, you will be responsible for interpreting shop drawings, cutting ,fitting, and welding high -quality structural steel components (including beams, columns, trusses, and stairways) for major commercial and industrial projects. Responsibilities * Fabrication & Fit-Up: Lay out, cut ,align, and fit structural steel components using bolting and tack-welding techniques according to detailed blueprints and shop drawings. Welding: * Perform high-quality production welds (primarily FCAW/MIG or stick) adhering to structural welding codes (such as AWS D1.1) Equipment Operation: * Safely operate shop equipment including torches, grinders saws ,overhead cranes, and forklifts. * Maintain a clean and organized work environment in the fabrication shop while adhering strictly to safety protocols at all times. * Collaborate with team members on assembly processes, ensuring all components are fabricated accurately for seamless installation on construction sites or in manufacturing facilities. Requirements * Proven experience in construction site environments or fabrication shops with a strong understanding of metal materials and structural steel components. * Ability to read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, and mechanical blueprints confidently. * Skilled in using measuring instruments such as calipers, micrometers, tape measures, and shop math for precise fabrication tasks. * Familiarity with construction site safety protocols and the use of hand tools, power tools, plasma cutters, machining equipment, and assembly techniques. * Mechanical knowledge related to metal fabrication processes including sheet metal fabrication and structural steel assembly. Qualifications & Skills * Minimum of 1 - 3 years experience in structural steel fabrication of heavy industrial welding preferred.
