Operations Specialist

Description We are looking for an Operations Specialist to support transportation and delivery performance for a Long-term Contract position based in Carlsbad, California. In this role, you will help ensure shipments move efficiently from origin to final delivery by coordinating updates, resolving service issues, and keeping stakeholders informed. This opportunity is well suited for someone who thrives in a fast-moving environment, stays organized under pressure, and brings strong communication and logistics coordination skills.

Responsibilities:

• Oversee shipment movement from pickup through delivery and provide timely progress updates during transit.

• Follow freight activity across a range of carriers and transportation partners to maintain visibility on shipment status.

• Arrange last-mile delivery scheduling and work with involved parties to support successful delivery completion.

• Serve as a key point of contact for customers, consignees, agents, drivers, and carriers to keep communication clear and proactive.

• Recognize potential disruptions early, escalate concerns to the appropriate teams, and support issue resolution before service is impacted.

• Maintain accurate operational records by logging shipment events, status changes, and related activities in a timely manner.

• Research delays, exceptions, damage claims, and delivery-related problems to determine next steps and support recovery actions.

• Confirm proof of delivery and verify that all completion requirements have been met for each shipment.

• Balance competing priorities effectively while meeting deadlines in a high-volume, fast-paced operations setting. Requirements • Experience supporting logistics, transportation, or shipment coordination activities in an operations-focused role.

• Ability to track multiple shipments at once while maintaining accurate activity logs and status records.

• Strong communication skills with the ability to interact professionally with customers, carriers, drivers, and internal partners.

• Working knowledge of logistics coordination, including delivery scheduling and shipment follow-up.

• Comfort operating in a call center metrics or service-driven environment with time-sensitive priorities.

• Problem-solving skills with the ability to investigate service exceptions and escalate issues when needed.
