Employment Type: Full timeShift: Rotating Shift Description: JOB SUMMARY: The Pharmacy Driver delivers medications and supplies to long-term care facilities, physician offices, hospitals/medical centers, and to patient personal residences.

SCOPE OF SERVICE/CUSTOMER: Reports to the Lead Pharmacist or in their absence, the Retail Pharmacy Supervisor.

Under the supervision of a pharmacist, serves patients and customers ranging in age from newborns to geriatrics.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Adheres to the principles of caring and expected behaviors outlined in MercyOne Dubuque Medical Center's Model of Caring and Trinity Health's Code of Conduct, fostering a climate where all customers are treated in a manner consistent with MercyOne Dubuque Medical Center's Mission and Values.

  • Maintains a working knowledge of applicable Federal, State and local laws and regulations, Trinity Health’s Organizational Integrity Program, Standards of Conduct, as well as other policies and procedures in order to ensure adherence in a manner that reflects honest, ethical and professional behavior.

  • Delivers medication safely to intended individual or facility in a timely manner

  • Communicates clearly with colleagues and customers alike, being a good listener and adjusting for differences

  • Represents MercyOne Pharmacies in a courteous, friendly, and caring manner

  • Performs duties with flexibility, adapting to changing schedules and needs of the customers, prioritizing workload accordingly

  • Maintains delivery vehicle(s)-Servicing at appropriate intervals, keeping them clean, notifying supervisor when needed.

  • Follows all laws, rules, and regulations surrounding operating a motor vehicle in the state of Iowa.

  • Maintains required department confidentiality and abides by HIPPA regulations.

  • Takes an active role in enhancing ability to carry out job functions through personal and professional/job-related growth and development, and participates in medical center and/or departmental education programs.

  • Supports and abides by all medical center, departmental, and safety policies and procedures. Proactively identifies safety concerns surrounding the work environment.

  • Performs other responsibilities as requested by pharmacy technicians, pharmacists, supervisors, or directors.

  • Transports inventory, communications, and paperwork between pharmacies.

  • Maintain record of daily, monthly and annual deliveries.

  • Actively participates in quality improvement initiatives.

SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIRED:

  • Maintains a professional, collaborative work environment so as to foster a positive public image for MercyOne Dubuque Medical Center.

  • Knows and adheres to all laws and regulations pertaining to patient health, safety and medical information (i.e. HIPAA, Stark, etc.)

  • Must be a safe driver with acceptable driving record and valid Iowa driver's license.

  • Must exhibit independent thinking in performing job functions.

  • Must have above average recall abilities in order to perform technical job functions.

  • Must possess the ability to effectively and courteously communicate with customers and members of the pharmacy, medical and hospital staffs.

WORKING CONDITIONS AND PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

  • In an 8 hour day, employee may stand and /or walk 6-8 hours.

  • Mobility, dexterity, fine motor skills and ability to use hands in repetitive motion tasks, such as grasping and fine manipulating is required.

  • Frequent (21%-50% of worktime) bending, stopping, reaching above shoulder level and pushing and pulling.

  • Must be able to see at a near visual acuity level.

  • Must be able to hear speech.

  • Frequent (21%-50% of worktime) lifting and carrying of objects weighing 35 lbs. or less.

  • Occasional (6%-10% of worktime) squatting, climbing 2 feet and balancing.

  • Must adhere to applicable organizational requirements on an annual basis for Employee Health Directives.

MINIMUM EDUCATION, LICENSURE, CERTIFICATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED;

  • Must be 18 years of age.

  • Valid Iowa driver's license.

  • Must be on registered on the Iowa Board of Pharmacy as Pharmacy Support before starting.

  • Retail experience is preferred but not required

  • Child and Dependent Adult Abuse Mandatory Reporter Training is required within 6 months of hire and every 3 years thereafter.
