Opportunity:
Virtual Service Operations is searching for an AWS Engineer (OpenSearch Serverless) to join our team.
This is a hands-on build role centered on serverless architecture and identity/security implementation. Candidates should be strong Python/CDK builders with deep OpenSearch experience — this is not a traditional Data Architect or Data Lake role.
Key Responsibilities:

A serverless-focused builder who combines strong Python/CDK development skills with deep OpenSearch (including Serverless) expertise and solid identity/security fundamentals.

Comfortable owning end-to-end implementation of serverless components with embedded authentication and authorization patterns.
Required Skills:
-
Amazon OpenSearch and OpenSearch Serverless — deep, hands-on experience (primary focus of the role)

AWS serverless stack — API Gateway, Lambda, DynamoDB
-
AWS CDK with Python — the solution is built in Python CDK; strong Python and CDK proficiency is essential

Identity & access engineering — hands-on experience with JWTs, OAuth, and Lambda authorizers

Certificate/token validation — CRLs (Certificate Revocation Lists) and JWKS validation
Requirements

8+ years of professional experience

Must work from a SCIF all five days a week (preferably in the DC metro area)

Active TS/SCI Clearance
