Seasonal Tax Preparer - Paid Training Pathway Jackson Hewitt Tax Service - Charlotte/Monroe Area Seasonal Employment | Entry-Level Candidates Welcome Interested in becoming a professional tax preparer but don't have tax preparation experience? Jackson Hewitt is recruiting candidates for our upcoming Tax School, beginning October 12, 2026. This five-week training program is designed to prepare qualified candidates for seasonal employment as Tax Preparers. TAX SCHOOL - 5 WEEKS Training is mandatory and includes tax preparation fundamentals, Jackson Hewitt systems and procedures, practice assignments, required testing, and a final exam during the fifth week. Training locations and schedules: Sunset Road - Charlotte - Monday and Wednesday: 10:00 AM-2:00 PM - OR - Saturday: 10:00 AM-5:00 PM South Boulevard - Charlotte - Tuesday and Thursday: 10:00 AM-2:00 PM - OR - Saturday: 10:00 AM-5:00 PM West Boulevard - Charlotte - Friday: 10:00 AM-5:00 PM Monroe, NC Office - Friday: 10:00 AM-5:00 PM Candidates must successfully complete required coursework, testing, and the final exam during Week 5 to continue through the employment process. PATH TO SEASONAL EMPLOYMENT Candidates who successfully complete Tax School and meet employment requirements may be offered seasonal Tax Preparer positions. First paid training day: November 14, 2026 | 10:00 AM-5:00 PM By November 14: - All mandatory tests must be completed. - Candidates must have obtained their IRS Preparer Tax Identification Number (PTIN). - Candidates must meet applicable employment requirements, including successfully completing a background check. The final exam is paid. SEASONAL TAX PREPARER POSITION Starting pay: Approximately $14.00 per hour, depending on experience and qualifications. Typical seasonal hours may include approximately 10:00 AM-6:00 PM, depending on location, staffing, and business needs. During approximately five peak-season weeks, operating hours may extend from 8:30 AM-9:00 PM. Individual employee schedules will vary based on staffing and business needs. These peak weeks provide the primary opportunity for eligible employees to earn overtime. WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR Successful candidates should have strong customer-service and communication skills, basic computer proficiency, attention to detail, dependability, and the ability to learn tax preparation procedures. Reliable transportation is required. Tax season is fast-paced, and schedule flexibility is essential. Candidates must be willing to work an alternate schedule based on office and client needs. Previous tax preparation experience is not required for candidates entering through Tax School.
