Become an IS Security Specialist within Southern California Edison's Grid Security Operations Center (GSOC) and help protect the technology, telecommunications, and cybersecurity systems that support one of the nation's largest electric utilities. In this role, you'll operate within a fast-paced, mission-critical environment responsible for monitoring network and security events, supporting incident response activities, and helping ensure the reliability and security of systems that support electric grid operations. Working alongside engineering, telecommunications, cybersecurity, and operational teams, you'll help identify risks, resolve complex incidents, and make operational decisions that directly support the delivery of safe and reliable power to millions of customers.

Responsibilities

Implements and monitors security measures for the protection of computer systems, networks and information.

Implements and interprets system security requirements.

Coordinates the user access program for all systems both on premise and those hosted by third parties including the initial set up of users, ongoing reviews, and removal of users due to terminations and
-
Separations.

Prepares and documents standard operating procedures (SOPs) and protocols.

Delivers comprehensive reports including assessment-based findings, outcomes and propositions for further system security enhancement.

Develops technical solutions and new security tools to help mitigate security vulnerabilities and automate repeatable tasks.
-
Implements confidentiality measures that protects against unauthorized access, modification, or destruction and helps to develop IT security policies and standards to support the security objectives.

Executes risk management analysis to identify areas of risk and develops security measures to prevent loss and assists in the mitigations of those risks.
-
Delivers effective data management in correlation to group support needs.

Provides troubleshooting, problem analysis, debugging, and resolution of assigned systems issues.

A material job duty of all positions within the Company is ensuring the protection of all its physical, financial and cybersecurity assets, and properly accessing and managing private customer data, proprietary information, confidential medical records, and other types of highly sensitive information and data with the highest standards of conduct and integrity.
Minimum Qualifications
- Three or more years of experience in information technology, information security and/or cybersecurity.
Preferred Qualifications
-
Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Cybersecurity, Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or a related discipline.

Experience working in a Network Operations Center (NOC), Security Operations Center (SOC), Telecommunications Operations Center, or similar 24x7 operational environment.
-
Experience supporting critical infrastructure, utility operations, telecommunications networks, or enterprise technology environments.
-
Demonstrated ability to make sound operational decisions independently and with minimal supervision during routine and emergency situations.
-
Experience with incident response, outage management, problem management, and root cause analysis.
-
Experience with routing, switching, firewalls, VPN technologies, and network security best practices.
-
Experience with network monitoring, event management, observability, and performance management platforms.
-
Cisco certifications such as CCNA, CCNP, or equivalent industry-recognized certification(s).
-
Nokia Network Routing Specialist (NRS) certification.
-
Palo Alto Networks certifications such as PCCET, PCNSA, or PCNSE.
-
Familiarity with cybersecurity frameworks, risk management practices, and critical infrastructure protection principles.
-
Experience creating and maintaining operational procedures, runbooks, and technical documentation.
-
Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills with the ability to effectively communicate during incidents and operational events.

Experience working in a collaborative environment supporting multiple operational and technology teams.
Additional Information

This position's work mode is on-site. The employee will report to an SCE facility or in the field location. Further details of this work mode will be discussed at the interview stage. The work mode can be changed based on business needs.

The primary work location for this position is Alhambra, CA. However, the successful candidate may also be asked to work for an extended amount of time at an alternate work location, Irvine, CA.

This position has been identified as a NERC/CIP impacted position - Prior to being hired, the successful candidate must pass a Personnel Risk Assessment (PRA) or Background Investigation. Once hired, the candidate must complete specified training prior to gaining un-escorted access to assigned work location and performing necessary job duties.

This position's schedule is 4/10's (4 days a week, 10-hour days).

Relocation does not apply to this position.
