DSHS BHHA Electronic Health Records Clinical Nurse Specialist The Department of Social and Health Services, Behavioral Health and Habilitation Administration is seeking an Electronic Health Records Clinical Nurse Specialist. This position reports to the director and is a liaison between our clinical and technical teams. As the Electronic Health Records Clinical Nurse Specialist, you will provide clinical leadership and perspective for the strategic planning, management, integration, and implementation of clinical information systems and technology for the administration. You will be responsible for engaging with nursing staff members,as well as staff members from other disciplines, across the administration throughout the implementation of the EHR, encouraging staff to participate in operational readiness activities to instill a sense of ownership of the new system.

Some of what you'll do

  • Make decisions, with input from subject matter experts, for the alignment of workflows, processes, forms, and assessments across all of BHHA as applicable, to the foundational EHR system.
  • Direct/guide nurses, and other staff members, in the adoption of new workflowprocesses, assessments, and other tools.
  • Understand and articulate current state primary facility workflows at all BHHA Behavioral Health Facilities and apply a longitudinal understanding of end-to-end processes.
  • Promote EHR-related activities and encourage implementation and adoption of the EHR.
  • Participate in system design and configuration of the EHR as needed.
  • Assist in the development of a specialty-specific implementation strategy for nursing and other clinical disciplines as needed.
  • Support nursing leadership, EHR Director, and/or other operational leaders in utilizing reports and defining business requirements for obtaining new reports.

Who should apply

  • Graduation from an accredited school of professional nursing and two years of professional nursing experience. Or, Equivalent education/experience. A valid Washington State license to practice as a registered, professional nurse.

Preferred knowledge, skills, and abilities:

  • Preferred applicants will have a master’s degree in nursing or equivalent education/experience.
  • Training and/or experience in healthcare information systems.
  • Ability to teach and train others, establish and maintain compliance with federal standards.
  • Ability to use computer software programs, specifically Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint for developing data reports, timelines, formal documents, and presentations.
