Full job description

Description

We are looking for a Plant Controller to support financial operations for a manufacturing environment in Burlington, North Carolina. This position will oversee plant-level accounting activities, strengthen cost visibility, and provide decision support through timely analysis. The ideal candidate brings strong expertise in manufacturing finance, inventory controls, and collaboration with operations and procurement teams.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead plant accounting activities, including financial reporting, reconciliations, and oversight of monthly close processes.

  • Build, refine, and maintain cost accounting methods that improve visibility into production spending and operational performance.

  • Monitor inventory balances and movements, ensuring records remain accurate and aligned with plant activity.

  • Partner with procurement and operations teams to evaluate material usage, purchasing trends, and inventory-related costs.

  • Analyze manufacturing results to identify variances, cost drivers, and opportunities for improved financial performance.

  • Support the development and maintenance of standard costing practices for products and production processes.

  • Prepare clear financial insights and recommendations for plant leadership to support planning and business decisions.

  • Use tools such as Sage Intacct and advanced Excel to manage reporting, analysis, and data review effectively.

Requirements • Experience in plant or manufacturing accounting with a strong understanding of cost control principles.

  • Demonstrated knowledge of cost accounting and standard costing within a production environment.

  • Hands-on involvement in month-end close and preparation of accurate financial results.

  • Ability to track and reconcile inventory in coordination with plant and supply chain teams.

  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret data and explain financial trends.

  • Proficiency with Sage Intacct and advanced Excel for reporting, modeling, and analysis.

  • Effective communication skills and the ability to work cross-functionally with procurement and operations.
