Full job description

This position will be open to internal and external applicants and will close on Sunday, October 25, 2026.

This position pays between $78,640.00 to $98,300.00 and is based on skills, experience and education of the successful candidate.

As a Strategic Sourcing Specialist, you'll build strategic supplier partnerships, negotiate value-driven contracts, and lead sourcing initiatives that support key business objectives. Primary Duties and Responsibilities

  • Identifies opportunities to transition the overall supply chain focus from tactical to strategic and encourages change to enhance departmental effectiveness. Recommends, develops, implements, revises, and maintains departmental processes and procedures to improve efficiency and effectiveness. Ensures procurement process flows (e.g., purchase requisitions, material requests) are optimized.

  • Coordinates the development and implementation of inventory optimization plans. Conducts regular reviews of usage trends, recommends adjustments to minimum and maximum inventory levels, monitors inventory reports, and evaluates and optimizes critical spare parts quantities to minimize or prevent stockouts.

  • Identifies strategic commodity groups and provides market analysis related to those groups to all Purchasing areas, including indices of cost changes for those commodities.

  • Coordinates Strategic Alliance and Term Blanket activities, including leading the RFQ process and supporting the development of specifications, terms and conditions, guidelines, schedules, and performance metrics. Serves as the day‑to‑day point of contact with suppliers, manages supply contracts, evaluates supplier performance, and addresses issues as they arise, informing management of recommended changes as appropriate.

  • Utilizes acquired market surveys and historical baseline spend analysis to determine pricing opportunities, considering the total cost of ownership.

  • Provides training and guidance to purchasing team members and other internal and external customers as directed by the Manager, and provides support in a buyer capacity as needed when primary Buyer(s) are unavailable.

  • Monitor and analyzes budgets within assigned procurement functional groups, including sourcing, fleet, and facilities, and serves as the subject matter expert for company credit card management.

Successful Candidate Must Have:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, or related field is required. Additional experience may be considered in lieu of a degree (see experience below).

  • A valid driver’s license with an acceptable driving record

  • Minimum of five (5) years of direct work experience in materials management, procurement, inventory management, including leading cross-functional teams. In lieu of a Bachelor’s Degree, an additional 4 years of direct work experience performing the duties and responsibilities of this or similar position may be considered.

  • Preferences:

  • Budget management experience and/or experience as a budget coordinator at the department level

  • Knowledge of materials in the utility industry. Working knowledge in an ERP environment (SAP, Maximo, Oracle, etc.)

  • MBA

Working Conditions

May be required to work extended hours including evenings and weekends as needed. Some in-state travel may be required. Field work in a construction environment.
