About the Role

We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Medical Device Service & Operations Intern to join our team supporting medical laser equipment used by healthcare professionals. This is a hands-on opportunity for a student interested in biomedical engineering, electrical engineering, mechanical engineering, medical devices, or technical operations.

The intern will work alongside our service team performing preliminary quality-control checks on laser systems, while also assisting with day-to-day office, shipping, and fulfillment operations.

This role is a good fit for someone who enjoys both hands-on technical work and practical business operations.

Schedule

This is a part-time position during the academic year, approximately 20 hours per week, Monday through Friday from 1:00 PM to 5:00 PM, beginning immediately and continuing through the Spring 2027 semester.

Responsibilities

Quality Control & Technical Support

  • Perform preliminary quality-control checks on medical laser equipment.

  • Assist with basic functional testing and inspection of equipment prior to shipment or service.

  • Follow established testing procedures, checklists, and safety protocols.

  • Document test results and identify issues requiring additional evaluation by senior technical staff.

  • Assist with basic equipment preparation, cleaning, labeling, and organization.

  • Learn the fundamentals of medical laser systems and their components.

Shipping & Fulfillment

  • Prepare equipment, parts, and accessories for shipment.

  • Package and label shipments accurately and safely.

  • Receive incoming shipments and verify contents against packing documentation.

  • Assist with inventory organization and tracking.

  • Prepare customer orders and service parts for fulfillment.

  • Maintain an organized parts and equipment area.

Office & Administrative Support

  • Assist with data entry and maintaining service and inventory records.

  • Organize service documentation, work orders, and equipment records.

  • Assist with general office tasks and other operational projects as needed.

  • Support the service team with day-to-day administrative responsibilities.

Qualifications

  • Currently enrolled in a college or university, preferably pursuing a degree in Biomedical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related technical field.

  • Strong attention to detail and ability to follow written procedures.

  • Comfortable working with tools, equipment, and technical documentation.

  • Basic computer proficiency, including Microsoft Office.

  • Strong organizational and communication skills.

  • Reliable, punctual, and able to work independently.

  • Willingness to learn and take on both technical and administrative responsibilities.

Preferred, but not required:

  • Previous laboratory, engineering, manufacturing, medical-device, or technical experience.

  • Familiarity with basic electrical or mechanical concepts.

  • Experience using hand tools or test equipment.
