Element Energy Element Energy is an early-stage company reimagining energy storage and battery management. Our breakthrough algorithms and patented control systems solve critical battery safety and performance issues in large-scale grid storage and data center markets. We mitigate the risk of battery fires while also increasing performance and longevity. In many cases, this also enables the safe and economic use of second-life batteries. We provide essential technologies that help enable the widespread adoption of clean renewable energy and “the electrification of everything” movement that is changing the world’s energy infrastructure. Description HW development and the validation of Element Energy’s Advanced Battery Management products. Location / Travel

  • Element’s Menlo Park Office. Travel to production and/or customer sites will be required as necessary.

Salary / Equity

  • To Staff range dependent on skills and experience.

Minimum Credentials

  • BS or MS in Electrical Engineering, or closely related field and 2+ years of closely related experience. Regardless of degree discipline, a solid understanding of Electrical Engineering fundamentals is essential.

  • PhD in Electrical Engineering, or closely related field and relevant practical experience.

Responsibilities

  • Define, validate, and enhance Battery Management System (BMS) for grid storage applications

  • Design of Highly Efficient Power Conversion Solutions (DC-DC converter).

  • System prototyping: component selection, schematic design, PCB layout design and/or guidance.

  • Create and execute test plans to validate designs for functional and performance goals; design and execution of product level testing with a focus on safety, reliability, risk mitigation and FMEA.

  • Write requirement documents, application notes, user guides, and datasheets.

Preferred Skills:

  • BMS design and characterization techniques.

  • Experience in DC-DC converters and control loop design.

  • Functional safety development processes and lifecycles.

  • Solid background in analog/digital circuit design, micro-processors, and serial communication interfaces.

  • Knowledge of battery chemistry, characteristics, and performance.

  • Experience working with high power and/or high voltage products
