HELP DRIVE THE TECHNOLOGY INITIATIVES THAT POWER ATC'S FUTURE

At American Transmission Co. (ATC), technology plays a critical role in supporting the systems, people, and processes that keep our business moving forward. We're seeking an IT Project Manager to lead high-impact technology projects while helping shape and manage ATC's broader technology portfolio. If you're energized by solving complex challenges, building strong partnerships, and leading projects from idea to implementation, we'd like to hear from you.

This role is not available for remote work and would require relocation to Wisconsin, close to either our Cottage Grove, or Pewaukee office.

Essential Responsibilities:

What You'll Do

As an IT Project Manager, you'll serve as both a delivery leader and a strategic partner by:

Leading Technology Projects

  • Manage technology initiatives from project initiation through implementation and closeout.

  • Develop and maintain project plans, schedules, budgets, forecasts, risk registers, issue logs, and status reporting.

  • Facilitate requirements gathering, design discussions, testing activities, project meetings, and steering committees.

  • Coordinate business stakeholders, technology teams, vendors, and contracted resources to achieve defined outcomes.

Managing Portfolio Priorities

  • Support the planning and maintenance of ATC's portfolio of technology projects, programs, releases, and operational initiatives.

  • Assist with project intake, classification, prioritization, scheduling, resource planning, and lifecycle monitoring.

  • Identify dependencies, resource constraints, critical-path issues, and portfolio risks.

  • Perform scenario analysis to evaluate the impact of changing priorities, capacity, work assignments, or investments.

Building Strong Partnerships

  • Create alignment among business partners, technology teams, leadership, sponsors, and steering committees.

  • Communicate project health, financial forecasts, risks, decisions, and recommended actions clearly and proactively.

  • Build trust across organizational levels and influence progress without relying on direct authority.

Improving How We Work

  • Support ATC's Release Project Management methodology, Stage Gate governance, and portfolio processes.

  • Contribute to project management standards, procedures, templates, guidance, and training.

  • Promote consistent execution, practical governance, and continuous improvement across the technology portfolio.

What You'll Bring

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Computer Science, Management Information Systems, Information Technology, or a related field preferred.

  • Experience leading complex technology projects from planning through successful implementation and closeout.

  • Strong project management skills across scope, schedule, budget, forecasting, risk, quality, and stakeholder management.

  • Experience coordinating cross-functional teams and managing multiple concurrent initiatives in a matrixed environment.

  • Proficiency with project and collaboration tools; Microsoft Office, Planner / Project, SharePoint, Team, PowerBI, and Visio.

  • Proficiency with project and portfolio management tools; Microsoft Project and Project Server experience preferred.

  • Broad knowledge across software, hardware, networking, databases, integrations, and enterprise technology environments.

  • Ability to communicate constructively across all organizational levels, build consensus, and drive decisions.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Project Management Professional (PMP) certification; required for Senior or higher grade-level consideration.

  • Technology portfolio management, PMO governance, project intake, Stage Gate, or resource-capacity planning experience.

  • Financial forecasting, procurement, vendor management, and risk/cost/benefit assessment experience.

  • Utility, energy, engineering, infrastructure, or other highly regulated industry experience.

  • Agile, hybrid, or traditional project delivery methodology experience.
