Full job description

- You will serve as the Urban Search & Rescue (US&R) Hazmat Coordinator and responsible for the coordination of the Hazmat discipline to include specific cache management, training, and equipment readiness for deployment needs.
- You will be responsible for the preventative maintenance and transportation of Hazmat equipment for US&R.
- You will perform US&R coordination for SC Task Force 1 (SC-TF1) and serve as a liaison between the Hazmat discipline managers and command staff as a single point of contact.
- You will deploy as a member of US&R to serve as a member of SC-TF1 Hazmat discipline.
- You will assist in the setup of Hazmat equipment and training props.
- You will develop a list of needs to continue future progression of the Hazmat discipline.
- You will participate and may deploy as a member of the US&R and HART teams to perform search and rescue operations.
- You will complete other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
- A high school diploma and relevant program experience. A bachelor's degree may be substituted for the required program experience.
Preferred Qualifications
- Three years’ operational experience in Urban Search & Rescue related to Hazmat and/or related courses.
- Extensive knowledge of Urban Search & Rescue, specifically the Hazmat discipline.
- Must be knowledgeable with Hazmat operations, equipment, and training.
- Ability to coordinate, teach, develop & deliver Hazmat specific products for SC-Task Force 1 and assist with other aspects of the SC Emergency Response Task Force.
- Must be able to use sound judgment to make decisions to correct problems.
Other Requirements
- Must be able to lift and/or move 100 lbs., climb, and use a variety of ladders.
- May be required to work in an austere environment.
- May require some weekend work and overnight travel. Must have a valid driver's license and 10-year MVR that complies with State and Agency Fleet guidelines.
- May be required to drive a state vehicle, including a vehicle requiring a CDL.
