The Ray and Stephanie Lane Computational Biology Department (CBD) at Carnegie Mellon University is renowned for its interdisciplinary approach to studying biological systems using computational methods. Faculty and researchers collaborate across fields such as computer science, biology, and statistics to tackle complex biological questions. Their work spans diverse areas including genomics, bioinformatics, systems biology, and computational neuroscience, driving innovation at the intersection of computation and life sciences.
CBD is seeking a Project Scientist to join the team! This role will be responsible for determining priorities for projects based on overall organizational goals. You will work directly will project members to ensure goals are achieved, and frequently present research findings to current or potential sponsors at major national or international conferences.
Core Responsibilities

Propose and lead independent research goals within scope of projects.

Contributor in developing and documenting research findings and collaborator in writing scientific papers

Acts as team leader, providing project management direction

Lead research efforts within main goals of project and help coordinate interactions with other team members and universities.

Writing documentation, technical papers, progress reports and participating in meetings/committees.

Performs related duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree required. Master’s degree preferred.

5-8 years of research experience required.

Excellent analytical, project management, and communication skills necessary.

A combination of education and proven experience from which comparable knowledge is demonstrated may be considered.
