Full job description

Description We are looking for a Transportation Planner to support freight planning and shipment execution across multiple business divisions in Arden Hills, Minnesota. This Contract position offers the opportunity to coordinate transportation activities in a fast-paced environment while working closely with internal teams and external carrier partners. The role is well suited for someone who can manage daily logistics priorities, communicate effectively, and keep shipments moving efficiently from origin to delivery.

Responsibilities:

  • Coordinate daily inbound and outbound transportation activity for an assigned region, ensuring loads are scheduled and executed efficiently across supported business areas.

  • Work closely with carriers, suppliers, and internal supply chain teams to arrange shipments and maintain smooth transportation flow.

  • Communicate shipment status, delivery updates, and emerging issues with customer service, warehousing, deployment, and operations partners.

  • Monitor freight movement proactively, identify potential service disruptions, and take timely action to reduce delays.

  • Investigate transportation issues, resolve escalations professionally, and support solutions that protect service performance and customer satisfaction.

  • Optimize transportation events and carrier usage to improve on-time delivery results and overall operational effectiveness.

  • Assist with freight billing questions, support accounts payable research, and help process transportation claims and related documentation. Requirements • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Supply Chain, Logistics, or a related field.

  • At least 1 year of experience in logistics, transportation, or a comparable operational environment.

  • Intermediate proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, including Excel, Outlook, and Word.

  • Working knowledge of transportation coordination, shipment tracking, and freight-related processes.

  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize multiple tasks and manage shifting deadlines.

  • Proven problem-solving ability, sound judgment, and attention to detail in a fast-paced setting.

  • Effective written and verbal communication skills, along with the interpersonal ability to build productive working relationships.

  • Experience with tools such as FourKites, Sonar, or Power BI is helpful.
