Behavior Assistant — 2 Positions

Employer: Saginaw Intermediate School District Location: Saginaw County, Michigan Assignment Location: Millet Learning Center, Saginaw Available Positions: 2 Employment Type: Full-Time; 180 days, nine months based on the established school year Category: Support Staff Compensation: Per USW Collective Bargaining Agreement General Summary This position provides instructional and non-instructional services to students as outlined by the assigned certified classroom teacher. Essential Responsibilities - Provide direct or standby assistance with feeding, toileting, health care, and related medical services as legally allowable. - Provide instruction at all locations under the meaningful direction and supervision of certified teachers or other certified support staff. - Collect and tabulate instructional data. - Implement or monitor behavior treatment plans under the direction and supervision of certified teachers. - Provide community-based instruction according to teacher lesson plans. - Provide non-instructional services, including student mobility, general health and safety, loading and unloading buses, and monitoring the lunchroom and other unstructured time. - Maintain confidentiality of student, parent, and staff information. - Maintain a positive attitude when working with students, parents, staff, and community members. - Lift and assist students weighing 75 pounds or more. - Secure wheelchairs on buses and perform other duties needed to ensure safe student transportation during the school day. - Ensure a safe environment for students at all times. - Greet and assist visitors in a positive, helpful manner. - Receive additional training to improve job skills. - Maintain and disinfect classroom equipment. - Perform other related duties as assigned. Required Qualifications - High school diploma or GED. - Basic computer skills. - Two years of experience working with developmentally disabled children, or two years of college in related areas. - Ability to work effectively with co-workers, students, and parents. - Ability to lift and assist students weighing 75 pounds or more. - Good oral and written communication, comprehension, and math skills. - Good attendance history.
