Full job description
Primary Function/General Purpose of Position
The Child Care Coordinator supports the operational, educational, and administrative functions of the child care center to ensure high-quality early childhood programming and compliance with licensing requirements. This role coordinates curriculum implementation, assists with enrollment and record management, and supports staff and family engagement initiatives. The Coordinator works closely with center leadership and classroom staff to maintain safe and effective operations and may provide classroom coverage when staffing needs arise to ensure appropriate supervision of children.
Essential Job Functions

Coordinate daily operational and administrative activities of thechild carecenter to support efficient program delivery and compliance with licensing requirements.

Maintain required records for children including enrollment documentation, health records, and other regulatory documentation.

Assistwith enrollment processes including greeting families, coordinating tours, managing waitlists, and supporting communication with parents.

Support curriculum planning and implementation by coordinating educational activities, distributing curriculum resources, andassistingstaff with program planning.

Provide guidance and support to classroom staff to ensure developmentallyappropriate programmingand adherence to center policies and procedures.

Assistwith staff coordination and daily routines to ensureappropriate classroomcoverage and compliance with required staff-to-child ratios.

Serve as a liaison with families b

y respondingto parent inquiries,assistingwith communication, and supporting family engagement activities.

Support administrative functions including answering phones, preparing correspondence,maintainingrecords, and coordinating childcare fee processingin accordance withcenter policies.

Assistwith regulatory compliance by supporting health and safety checks, documentation reviews, and participation in drills or other compliance-related activities.

Provide classroom support and serve as backup in classrooms when staffing coverage is needed tomaintainsafe supervision and continuity of care.

Performs functions consistent with infection control requirements and guidelinesregardingexclusion for ill/symptomatic children,cleaningand disinfecting practices andinsurescompliance within the facility

Assistsscheduling training and development opportunities for associatesregardingprevention of spread of infection, proper food handling,appropriateandrequireddisinfecting practices, child related educationrequiredfor all associates andadditionalrequired training as assigned by the regulatory agencies.
Licensing/Certification

First Aid and CPR certificationin adult andpediatrics(required within state specific timeline)

Serve SafeFood Handlercertification from the Department of Health (preferred)

Child Development Associate (CDA) Certificate (preferred)
Education
-
High school diploma or GED (required)
-
Associate orBachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education, Child Development, or related field(preferred).
Work Experience
-
3 years of experience in early childhood education or licensedchild caresetting(preferred).

Successfully meets all state requirements and successfully completes all required background screenings forchild careassociates.
Training
-
State approved Medication Administration Training (required within state specific timeline)

State approved Daily Health Observation Training (required within state specific timeline)
Skills

Knowledge of early childhood development principles and developmentallyappropriate practices

Knowledge of statechild carelicensing regulations and safety standards

Strong organizational and administrative coordination skills

Ability to support curriculum planning and classroom programming

Range:
Minimum: $20.97
Maximum: $31.47
