Summary

THIS IS AN INDIANA NATIONAL GUARD TITLE 32 EXCEPTED SERVICE POSITION This position is part of the IN JFHQ IN J1, Indiana National Guard under Position Description Number D2022000. If you would like the complete list of duties, please contact the POC of this announcement.

Duties

  • The primary purpose of this position is to provide administrative support to states that occur casualties while soldiers are in a duty and non duty status.
  • Receives notification of all death’s and/or casualties.
  • Receives notification of death of veterans with requests for burial honors and forwards the request to appropriate state Military Funeral Honors personnel.
  • Works hand in hand with the Casualty Assistance Officer and the Survivor Outreach Services personnel to ensure that all of the surviving family members needs are addressed and taken care of.
  • Briefs personnel on the most current procedures for casualty notification, NOK assistance and burial honors.
  • Composes correspondence that requires reference to regulations, related correspondence manuals, etc.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

MILITARY GRADES: E-5 through E-8 COMPATIBLE MILITARY ASSIGNMENTS: 01A GENERAL EXPERIENCE: Experience, education, or training which provided a general knowledge of principles of organization, management, and administration. Experience using computer and automation systems. SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Must have at least 24 months experience, education or training in any position that required compiling reports, letters, memoranda, etc., and required person-to-person contacts to convey information. Applicants must have experience providing technical guidance and assistance in the type of work or in comparable work of the position to be filled. Applicants must have a thorough knowledge and understanding of administrative procedures and practices of management. Experience developing administrative procedures.

Education

To receive credit for Education, you must provide transcripts or documentation of proof that you meet the Education requirements for this position. You may combine education with specialized experience to meet the length of experience requirement for GS-09. Such education must demonstrate the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the line of work. For the GS-09 level: To qualify on education alone applicant must have one of the following: master's or equivalent graduate degree or 2 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree or LL.B. or J.D., if related. Only graduate education in excess of the amount required for the next lower grade level may be used to qualify applicants for positions at grade GS-9 including qualifying with combination of education and experience. To receive credit for Education, you must provide transcripts or documentation of proof that you meet the Education requirements for this position. How You Will Be Evaluated
